Kate and Gary are perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The house has an eclectic 1970s feel, rooms are comfortable and clean and there’s oodles of hot water for showers. Breakfasts and evening meals are delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this as a good place to stay.

Visited for 2 nights in mid September. Again Kate and Gary are wonderful hosts who feed you exceptionally well! We again booked the back twin(quiet decent view) with large spotless ensuite bathroom with large shower. Breakfast is huge and tasty. Be sure to book an evening meal. Gary is quite a cook ( this year Vietnamese style duck and seafood bisque!) Kate is the perfect hostess and presides over a lively dinner table! Do not be put off by the plain exterior-inside is open, and atmosphere warm! Dont miss Kyren or the oldest continually used church in England at Escomb..

Room tip: Chose back room

My husband stayed here for 2 nights his en suite room was both spotlessly clean and quiet. He had travelled up from Plymouth by train and Kate kindly met him at the station, he was pretty exhausted when he arrived but Kate had a delicious pre -arranged evening meal waiting for him, both she and Gary welcomed him which was lovely, breakfast the following morning was again superb and set him up for the day. He and Gary got on so well they discussed the merits of fresh food directly from the garden. We do intend a return visit soon. Thank you Kate and Gary. 5 stars for your lovely B & B

Room tip: there are just 3 rooms to chose from

Kate and Garry Bolton are such welcoming hosts and provide a lovely house to stay in. The breakfast is generous, well cooked and includes fresh fruit from the garden and their own new laid eggs. Would recommend this B&B for what is on offer at Auck House and also for the situation as a good centre to tour Teesdale, Weardale and County Durham

Excellent stay at Auckhouse. Conveniently situated for visiting Durham and surrounding areas.
First class breakfast in a very friendly atmosphere. Spotlessly clean and comfortable room at a very good price. What more could you ask for...home from home.
