I attended a wedding at Headlam Hall yesterday and I must say I was suitably impressed. As mentioned by other T/A contributors, the hotel's location is perfect. Set out of the way with no traffic noise in beautiful rural surroundings. The buildings have recently been tastefully refurbished without losing the character of the old building. Rooms are spacious and the Bridal Suite is superb. The grounds are immaculate.
Nothing was too much trouble for the Wedding co-ordinator, Jill, who ensured the day went smoothly with as little disruption as possible. The Coach House was decorated beautifully and the curved Top Table arrangement was perfect. Food quality was superb and served with military precision. Drinks, as to be expected, were slightly more expensive than in town but you have to pay for quality surroundings and this did not detract from the overall experience. Staff were attentive, smiling and chatty and again nothing was too much trouble. I cannot find fault with Healdlam Hall and will definitely be re-visiting for lunch very soon.

Room Tip: Bridal Suite is beautiful!

We got married at Headlam in December 2015 and had the most absolutely amazing day. Headlam is a beautiful place, and everything from the rooms to the food are wonderful, but it's the staff that make it extra special. From arriving the day before the wedding, to leaving the day after, we felt incredibly well looked after and special. The wedding didn't go exactly to plan due to the registrar being delayed by an unexpected snow storm, but the staff took all this in their stride. We went back for a 6 month anniversary afternoon tea recently and it was lovely to be remembered by the staff. We already can't wait to go back for our complimentary 1st year anniversary stay. I honestly couldn't recommend Headlam Hall enough - whether for a spa day, a delicious meal or the perfect wedding - you should absolutely visit at least once. Thanks again to all at Headlam for being brilliant.

The hotel is in the heart of countryside with beautiful surrounds , once you manage to find it . Nice hotel with a small spa in the middle of nowhere ! . Room was slightly on the small side , I found the cricking floor from the upstairs room very annoying as it disturbed my sleep . Service is very good and the staff are quite friendly .

The hotel is in excellent grounds and conveys a feeling of space which is most welcome. The bedroom has some nice touches and lounge areas are all comfortable.Having had a family lunch here we had high hopes for the food but have to say it was a bit below the standard we had expected based on our previous visit. It is also a little bit disappointing to be asked when checking in for breakfast whether we were meant to be there! At the rates being paid, you would expect that to be known! However, based on our 2 visits, we would still recommend and would hope our first visit was a better reflection of the food standard. The Spa facilities are very good and the golf course well worth a round.

Room Tip: Maybe a room in the main hotel.

My wife and I was looking for a place where we could drive out to, and enjoy a venue not previously visited by ourselves. I reserved lunch at the Hedlam Hall and on arrival we were both staggered by how stunning the grounds were. We had arrived a few minutes early and had a little walk to take in the surroundings. We entered the building and found the inside just as beautiful. We ordered a drink each at the bar (1 alcoholic and 1 non-alcoholic) and after a few minutes were shown to our table. We both chose the 2 course at £18.50 lunch which was excellent. Our meal was washed down with a bottle of Rose, and the total cost of the bill amounted to £70.30.
The restaurant was not very busy, and apparently had not been. The staff were very attentive, and the service good. It is impossible to say if the hotel had a good atmosphere, with few people around, but the ambience was restful. The hotel is lovingly furnished. and all in all an enjoyable visit. We will definately be back.
