It was good choice to stay there if you wish to have quick access to the beach, very green location like garden in jungles, do not expect to have big choice of breakfast, very basic, eggs any style, fresh watermelons, pineapple and possibly papaya, white toast bread, butter and jam no ham cheese or bacon. One type of juice mango or orange. That was it oh and spicy Malay noodles. There was a bar/cafe Oasis on the right site if you are facing the Sea, ok place if you do not wish to walk around, a bit overpriced comparing to other places. Room we stayed in was spacious and enough for us (2 adults and 3 year old boy). it was pretty clean. Staff there very friendly and helpful. Booking was done over emails pretty smooth and quickly. Wi-Fi was available only by reception area, and was more of a joke than proper connection but i guess free cheese is only in a mouse trap. in the room there were no bath tab, but shower, water was not always hot, but since it is warm who cares for hot anyways. On the beach there was plenty of benches to get you sun bath, and right there was a possibility of getting a massage, Neat stuff. Little walk on the beach to the left and you get a choice of water sports (jet-ski, paragliding, banana ride etc.) easy to bargain and you get your adrenaline.

Hi all,

I went to langkawi island this month with my parents, younger brother and my wife and one uncle and his daughter. We took one big family room and one small twin room. The family room is awesome and we stayed for three nights there. Everything was fantastic. however the hotel has a very few staffs though they clean it properly but a bit slowly :) If anyone interested to relax and enjoy the sunset then this hotel is really a suitable place to stay... The twin room was very small though but the family room is quite large and easily accommodate 5 persons......
The lady in reception and other staffs are prefer to speak in Malay. Breakfast was normal bt except-able and there is no Mineral water in the rooms.

Thanx

Room Tip: Family rooms are good.

Just stayed for an afternoon while waiting for a night time flight, lovely small resort where you can walk through to the beach. Also the main area of Pantai Chenang is right outside the entrance with the night market shops and restaurants so location is spot on. I have to recommend the Red Tomato just up the road, great Pizza and Pasta.

Enjoyed great cocktails next door in L'Oasis while our 4 year old played in the sand. It's simple and reasonably priced but was perfect for our needs.

Location is very good. You can enjoy a very peaceful ambience with a lot of green landscapes. Even so if there is no swimming pool you can enjoy your day on a small private sandy beach. Rooms with an air condition are clean and if you have any wishes friendly stuff is always there to help you.
For the budget resort they definitely deserve 5points, if you need more then I suggest you book something more fancy...

This hotel is located at the Pantai Tengah / Pantai Cenang vicinity, and a mere 5-minute walk from the Underwater World. Location is definitely its plus point.

There are basically three room types, Sunset 1, 2 and 3. Sunset 3 is the smallest, which is kind of claustrophobic. If I were to make a recommendation, it would be to take Sunset 2. It is RM30 more a night which isn't going to break the piggy bank.

Rooms are kept clean, which is an important criteria for me in critiquing a hotel. Toilets are large and in good condition. You can see that the staff take pride in keeping the hotel in good shape. While we were there, we stayed at Sunset 2 for two nights, and in Sunset 3 for .... 2 hours. Bookings were done for Sunset 3 actually, then we requested to upgrade to Sunset 2. And to pay of course. However, we could only get Sunset 2 for the first night. After spending the first night in Sunset 2, we moved to Sunset 3 after our day trip. However, we found the room extremely hot! The air conditioner was not working. We informed the staff, and we said we'll give it about an hour to let it fix itself. Unfortunately, it did not. So, for a room change, the only available room left was... Sunset 2. So, we got upgraded. FOC...

So, room conditions are good. Sunset 2 has got a water heater with tea and coffee sachets. TV is a tiny CRT TV which only receives RTM 1, RTM 2 and TV3 (local channels). It has a small area to keep your luggage, hang your clothes and do your make-up and powdering.

The hotel does have wifi, but it is only confined to the lobby area. So it is not uncommon to see a lot of guys gathering there at night using their laptops/tablets/mobile phones, while feeding the mosquitoes.

Breakfast is served every morning. However, it is very limited. You get eggs (omelettes, friend eggs, hard boiled, sunny-side-up, etc), toasted bread with butter and different jams, cut fruits, and coffee or tea. You do get a glass of orange juice. A glass. Nobody came to refill the glasses at all. The dining area is just by the beach so you get to eat with a nice sea breeze.

The layout of the hotel is such that it is longish, with the reception closest to the main road, and a long trail to the beach with chalets to the left and right of the trail. It does get very dark at night along the trail due to lack of lightings, which is something the management could look into.

I have read some earlier reviews about this hotel and noted that some complaints were met with nonchalance. Personally, we did not encounter this problem, but it could be because we did not have that big a problem as the other reviewers (except for the faulty airconditioner). I would hazard a guess by saying that the reason could be that Sunset Beach Resort is just one of many establishments by this Sunset company. They have got restaurants, bars, discos, etc. So, I don't know, maybe they feel that one complaint does not warrant any worry. As you may have noticed, they also do not respond to any reviews on this website.

In a nutshell, I would say to take this place if you are looking for a place on a budget. We were out most of the time exploring the rest of the island. So, if you are looking for a place to rest your head which is clean, and is located near restaurants and bars, you can consider this place.

Room Tip: Take Sunset 2.
