We had a great experience staying at this hotel. We were here to support the SEA Games sailing event happening nearby. Location-wise, it's unbeatable. There's a
large shopping mall (Langkawi Parade) 3min walk away and surrounded by many shops including various nick-nacks stalls and laundry shops. It's also right next to Persiaran Mutiara where all the good restaurants and seafood is. Must try the street side burger stall located on the stretch to Langkawi Parade.
This hotel is in the Kuah, the commercial heart of Langkawi and you are not going to find a beach here. Many people complain about this in reviews. If you would like a beach holiday, there are many hotels in Cenang Beach (Pantai Cenang) in the west. It's at least a 30min drive away from Adya. Cenang would be similar to Patong (Phuket) or Kuta (Bali). If you would like something more upmarket, there's the Four Seasons and The Datai up in the north.
At Adya, we found the breakfast spread good and of decent quality. We were here for 8 nights and didn't feel too tired of the food as there was sufficient variety. Not everything was of the highest quality but after a while, we came to know of which dishes were better than others. They served freshly baked croissants which ran out almost as quickly as they came out of the oven. And of course, there was freshly made roti canai. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was no problem communicating in English. We are always greeted with a smile as we came down to the reception. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Note that this is an Islamic hotel so no alcohol is served and food is halal and also you can expect a lot of guests from the middle east.
What's not so good is the swimming pool (too small I felt) although they have a separate ladies only swimming pool. Ladies can of course swim in the main pool if they choose to do so. They are however not very much different in size. The gym was not well equipped and not cold enough I felt.
