Disappointing experience at Barrenjoey House. It’s so noisy that It was impossible to hear the person across the table speak. There’s been no thought to the acoustics. It was a long long wait 2 hours for lunch to be served. Some had had an entree then an hour later the mains came. So the people who had only ordered a main waited 2 hours for food. 3.15pm The people on tables around us that arrived later were served and eating whilst we waited. Very half hearted apology by the waitress. They’d clearly forgotten our order. Disappointing lamb chops finally arrived my partner left half of them on the plate that half being fat. It might be that there’s enough one off day trippers to fill the restaurant so repeat business from locals that have had an ordinary experience there and won’t come back doesn’t effect the bottom line.

The recently renovated Barrenjoey House is a joy. The new decor is bright and tasteful, and the food is imaginative and delicious. It was also a delight to be looked after by such courteous, cheerful and attentive staff, ably led by the charming, friendly and efficient Angela. Altogether it made a special occasion especially memorable.

A lovely restaurant with first class service and top quality food. The portions are large and freshly cooked, served with style. We choose a freezing cold cocktail to start off the lunch with a veggie entré, which was very tasty and fish for our main with salad side dish. All were perfect and too large to manage a dessert. The decor is bright in happy yellow with being surrounded by piles of lemons in over-sized dishes.
