'Galini' means 'serenity' in Greek, and is the perfect name for this charming old house. We've spent two very happy weeks here, and left feeling relaxed and revived - just what we want from a holiday!
It's lovely to sit or eat out on the terrace, which has stunning views over the sea. There's plenty of room to sunbathe around the pool (again, great views), and there's seating in the shade when you've caught enough rays! The pool itself is easily accessed from shallow steps.
Great beaches and restaurants just a short drive away.
We'll be back!
Galini is perched on a hillside looking out over the countryside to the sea. It's ideal if you want to spend a few days just relaxing by the excellent and good-sized pool and sitting on the terrace as the sun goes down (or breakfast!)
There are good sized rooms with two en-suites bedrooms on the ground floor. There's a separate shower room and loo for the two upstairs rooms which are perfect for kids as they look down onto the main sitting room/kitchen. No air conditioning but there are fans to keep the air moving. The separate, en suite room beyond the pool is delightful.
The style is rustic chic; with tiled floors, white walls and blue shutters and furnishings, comfortable sofas; the paintings are on the walls are by the owner, a professional artist. Books, cds and a wood burning stove if you have a chilly evening in Spring or Autumn.
You need a car but the roads are pretty empty and it's not far to some really good simple tavernas with their own entertainment.
Can't recommend it highly enough.
Galini is a delightful place to spend a holiday. With beautiful views from the terrace and spacious rooms. I can’t wait to return.
Up in the more remote part of Zakinthos, wonderful views down to the sea, genuine old Greek property with mod cons.
Local craft and pottery shops, honey pots available, delicious!
Small restraunts with fabulous fish.
Swim in the infinity pool and gaze over the cypress trees down to the ocean.
A quiet retreat.
We stayed with friends at this lovely cottage for the second time in June 2016 and were as delighted the second time as our first visit. Galini is a secluded house set on the hillside with glorious views out to sea and benefits from breezes during the day. The cottage is well equipped with lovely decor - light and airy. The kitchen was well stocked and lots of books to borrow. The paintings throughout the cottage are lovely and gives it a homely feel.
Outside there are both shaded and unshaded seating areas to enjoy meals, drinks and general socialising as well as a wonderful swimming pool set away from the house which allows a bit of privacy.
We occupied a delightful double room with ensuite underneath the pool which is slightly separated from the main house. Access was via external steep steps but were easily accessible. The room would have benefitted from air conditioning but there were patio doors onto a small seating area which we left open.
As with most traditional Greek houses, the plumbing requires that paper is not flushed away but bins were provided in each bathroom - initially a bit of a shock but no problem at all.
The property is not overlooked and has wonderful views out to sea.
We will be back again as this a peaceful and delightful location to relax with family and/or friends.
