We really enjoyed visiting the Tiki Bar at Looe Key Reef Resort. The atmosphere is great- A mix of locals & tourists. Wonderful live music, with a dance floor. The food was really good. But our server the last night was a disaster. She might have been on drugs but she was awful. We won't let that keep us away, because we enjoyed this spot a lot.

Upside - Rooms are clean, the were just remodeled many thanks to Irma, great Tiki bar, and the dive operation is right at the resort. The dive operation is well run. Crew was personable and responsive. Live band at the Tiki bar on Friday & Saturday nights; and they shutdown around 11:00 pm so you can get some sleep. Rooms have a fridge and microwave. The harbor view is a dock and a canal.

Downside - It's right on the highway, the building is old and starting to need some structural repairs, and the rooms are modestly appointed and a few homeless people are running around the parking lot.

Bottom line - If you dive, this a great place to stay to dive Looe Key and you are accustomed to these types of accommodations, then you'll enjoy your stay. If you don't dive and are expecting a Disney class resort then you be very disappointed.

We appreciuate your candid review. Sometimes we feel like an endangered species - "an authentic Keys experience" - surrounded by the creeping invasion of cookie-cutter sameness from elsewhere. We'll keep working hard to hang onto what makes us unique, while making our guests feel welcome and well-cared for. Thank you for your review.

You have to understand that this is a simple dive hotel. It's attached to the dive shop and the rooms sit on the canal where their main boat sits. It's clean and allows for your entire focus to be on the diving. I love this place and love the people. Been here three times, stayed at the hotel once. I had opted to stay elsewhere before, simply because of the reviews about the loud music (I'm a terribly light sleeper - it plagues me) but this trip was different and we wanted to maximize our time as much as possible. So, bought some earplugs for the louder and longer weekend music and slept like a baby. The motel & shop don't pretend to be anything they aren't and they are really good at meeting all your dive needs. First night the TV didn't work and our divemaster actually brought in a different TV. I probably wouldn't have cared much if they'd managed to get it to work or not but I was really impressed with how easy he (Tony) made everything. They helped us find the right fit for gear and really attended to all our needs. Thank you!! You guys are the absolute best!

from TV's, to gear fitting, to dive instruction - it sounds like Tony took really great care of you! Who knew that a humble dive hotel and dive shop comes with your own personal butler? Seriously though, we're glad you experienced our staff's focus on customer service. Thank you for choosing us for your stay and dive instruction. We greatly appreciate your review and we'll make sure to share it with Tony and the rest of our staff.

Stayed here Memorial day week. The rate was very affordable and the place was very accommodating. The bartenders at the tiki bar were very friendly, and Diane in housekeeping was always happy to bring clean towels and other necessities with quick response. Short drive to Key West, yet settled in a quiet, less crowded area. I would highly recommend Looe Key Resort if you're looking to explore the lower keys.

This is a scuba diving resort, which we didn't partake in, so this review is based solely on the room.

When getting our keys for our room, the front desk people were very nice and welcoming. When we walked into our room though, we had to spend a good hour killing all the mosquitos. The maids must of left the door open or something, as the room was filled with them. You can see smudges from mosquito kills which were from previous occupants.

The beds were clean, but the room definitely needed better cleaning and perhaps a better system so mosquitos and other bugs don't come through open doors.. Other than the cleanliness, we enjoyed our time at the Tiki Bar and the customer service overall was great.

After a record breaking amount of rain in May - 15 inches - we've all been bothered by our tropical climate mosquitoes. Your post is a goood reminder for us to remind our guests and our housekeeping staff to keep the doors closed.
