Was here Saturday with group of friends. Food was really good. I loved the attentive yet relaxed and humorous waiters. They kept up a high level of professionalism whilst not being as stuffy as you sometimes find in other top quality restaurants. The wines to accompany the dinner were good: not always exactly my taste but that’s why we went for the wine accompaniment- to try something different. We were seated in a lovely cosy but not stuffy room with tasteful deco. Really enjoyed our evening here.

Great evening with family, as we walked through the neighbourhood finally came to the entrance. Opend the front door as a waitress was friendly welcome us and took our coats. Guided us to our cosy table. We got several amuses " train tickets " represent the food style which was served. What a nice idea...our boys 1.5 and 10 years of age love trains and all is connected as with the train tickets.
We travelled many times and so our oldest son getting around of different kind of food dishes. As now our little one newest experience with new taste sensations. My Kir royal was well served.
In the mean time the youngest stuffed is mount full with amuse. We did not dress formal cause we want to feel if we were at home but a more special treat. The staff are friendly and helpful. High professional as I expected on this quality level of restaurant. We choose a 5 course surprise menu and for our little son we asked to make something what he can eat..no ingredients. We know how to handle our smallest child during the 5 course trip. It is a long seat for him but just see it as home and feel like home..and no worries parents I recommend this restaurant for families with small children who are very curious in taste and love for food...just guide them... I asked the staff if it's possible for the oldest to look inside the kitchen. And at the final course he could make his own dessert with one of the kitchen staff. As I came later in the kitchen I notice cleaniss on floor and work and tools, knives, working table. Spoke with the master chief. Nice short honest talk. Well we've been eating around the world, this restaurant is a truly must have experience. With kids or without.
Get those train tickets and enjoy the ride.

This year we visited the Kromme Dissel for the first time , in November again.
Both times we had a table in the Staphorster kamer, a cosy room with a nice fireplace. Both times, during the aperitif the Chef Mr. Berentsen came to our table to ask us what we would like to have, how many course we desired and if there were some ingredients you don't like or are allergic to, all in a very friendly and relaxed way, not the formal gabbling over way you often experience in star rated (or would be) restaurants. The second time Mr. Berentsen remembered my allergy to some crustaceans. Indeed if you keep notes and look at them, but knowing who is the person out of 4 being allergic is something else. Both times we decided to stick to 4- 5 courses and Mr. Berentsen promised to be back later to inform if we would like to have more courses. Indeed he came back (most of the times people are just telling you, but he did!). In February as well as in November we had extra courses. In February the amuses were inspired by the Asian Kitchen, in November the Latin American. Every amuse an absolute joy to tongue and eyes. Very nice is that you're not constantly disturbed by staff, telling you what you going to have, but in February little postcards were put next to your plate, in November a colorful brochure. The suggested wine arrangements are perfectly chosen, matching the dishes and abundant. If you want, having extended your courses, the very attentive, friendly and professional sommelier surprises you with very nice wines. Anyhow (most rather young) service staff (sometimes one member of the kitchen brigade) is perfect. A mix of professionalism and friendliness: relaxed and witty in a proper way. You notice a very good training. In February the daughter of Mr. Berentsen was one of the staff; we found out when we asked her to bring our compliments to the kitchen brigade (She said I'll tell my father). Both times we highly enjoyed the superb dishes, each of them of extraordinary (mix of) taste and creativity. You just wonder why Michelin just rates the restaurant with 1 star (already for 47 years) It deserves a higher rating. It really is a great joy to have dinner in De Kromme Dissel; we will be back, making the journey up to Heelsum again.

We loved the food, service, ambience and whole experience here! The room we were seated (not sure if there's another room) was quite small so it felt comfortable even though it's a very luxury dining experience. Although we were a little bit disappointed with the wine selection (I thought the wines were good but my partner thought it didn't meet the quality of the food), the food was exquisite from start to finish!

This is the second time we booked the Kromme Dissel for a family occasion. We had 19 in our party so they booked us a private room away from the main restaurant. Beforehand Chef Tony Berentsen called me and we discussed the menu. On the night he prepared a 6 course menu with fish and meat, but replaced dishes to accommodate the more fussy eaters amongst us (No meat, no fish or leaving off a tricky ingredient like oysters) Every one enjoyed their meal and a great night was had by all. Service was swift and flexible. (To include speeches)
It won't be a cheap night out, but you are presented with little works of art on a plate and an unforgettable experience.
