Hotel by the lake side (sorry no swimming), divided in small 2 levels buildings. Very quiet settings, but you will need the car to go there. Varese city is 20 minutes away.
Friendly staff, good breakfast. When booking, we didn't see we could have 3 beds-family room, but it was arranged on arrival. Air-conditioned rooms

Hotel Montelago has a beautiful location by the lake. It is new, modern, and spacious. Our three-bed family room was very spacious, and featured a large private terrasse. Service was friendly and caring. WiFi coverage in our room was faint, and deserves additional equipment. Malpensa airport is some 30 minutes away by car.

This hotel belongs to an Eco World Hotel group and is very impressive, just 10 metres from the lake and a stones throw away from a fantastic restaurant, friendly and staff as well as multi lingual. Breakfast is amazing with so much to choose from, I was a bit doubtful about this hotel after reading some of the blogs but found it a great place. One report complained about the aircraft noise but what can you expect when you are so close to an airport, I hardly noticed it at all. One thing that I did not look at was the apartment style units, from the brochure I picked up, they look fantastic. With cooking facilities and sitting room timber floors and the top floor units have exposed timber ceilings, maybe next time I'll stay in one of them. All I can say is, if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities, stay at this hotel and enjoy the peace and quiet and relaxing atmosphere, you'll be so glad you did. And the WiFi connection worked just fine and free for a week.

Room Tip: I did not like the shower in the bathroom at the hotel, it had a glass screen but only went half way of the shower recess, I found that a lot of the water ended up on the bathroom floor, if they had a sliding door that went just half a metre it would stop the water wetting the floor. Another thing is the door to the balcony, I don't know what it's like in the summer but in November there were lots of mosquitoes and a fly screen door would be a great way to keep them out of the room.
