We went through the visit on our own with the descriptive paper and it was a great insight on the Middle Ages history of the region.

Despite there being some work going on and a hard walk up there from the lower town car park this is a very impressive castle with some wonderful views.

We came on a very sunny and warm day off season and were stunned by this fort. Very few people were around (we only met one group of 4 people while wandering around the castle), so the experience was quite unique and exhilarating. The views from the top are stunning, the castle tour is a must. The walk up is quite steep and not accessible by disabled as there are a few steps. But totally worth it.

We visited the castle by a cold, grey and dull day of December. There were just 2 other visitors that didn't stay very long.
My son absolutely loved it and so did I, we felt so privileged to have the castle for ourselves. It must be different in summer when tourists are everywhere.
A very big plus is that this castle opens all year long unlike the majority of the touristic activities in Perigord that close past summer. The minus is that there was not one shop/cafe opened in the village. Everything was dead, but we had a great conversation with the lady at the ticket booth, she was passionate about the castle and really lovely.
The castle is privately owned and all monies collected by the owners are reinvested in the maintenance and running. Such dedication is commendable. Many thanks !

One of the best preserved and informative medieval chateaus I've seen. The audio guide, provided in your own language is very helpful. I've never seen one quite like it. You point it at the room you are in on a sheet and it triggers the narrative. The narrative gives you not only information about the history of the chateau, but also of the habits and living conditions of the people who lived here.

And the view is stunning. The chateau sits on top of a cliff overlooking the Dordogne river.

Parking is just a short easy walk from the chateau. You can also park by the river and walk up if you are a hardier sort.

If I had any criticism at all, it would be that the number of rooms opened seem to be very limited. You only have access to what seemed a handful.
