The Gite at Vue de Duras was featured in the television program 'Little England'. Fiona and her daughter converted a broken down outbuilding into a homely and very inviting Gite.
The Gite comprises of two bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms, and a lounge combined with kitchenette and dining area. The kitchenette is well equipped with a the usual kitchen equipment and the lounge has comfortable chairs and satellite television. The Gite also has a nice veranda with lovely views across to the castle at Duras hence the name of the Gite being Vue de Duras. I took my binoculars for this visit and it was very relaxing to sit on the veranda at night as the sun set with a glass of local wine and observe the surroundings.
Fiona and Hugh are great hosts and make you feel very welcome. They are also very knowledgeable about the area and give very good advice on places to visit. This was our second visit to Vue de Duras and so we were able to explore a different area of the Dordogne.
The Gite is situated next to the main house where Fiona and Hugh run a bed and breakfast business. There is a lovely pool in front of the house and as guests in the Gite you are invited to use the pool. High keeps the pool water immaculate. There is also a chicken coop and you are invited to collect any eggs which the chickens lay, unfortunately the chickens had gone on strike this year and there were no eggs to collect for out breakfast.
This was a very relaxing holiday for a week in a beautiful part of France with very helpful and charming hosts and we would recommend staying here most highly.
