“Nice location of you have a car; apartment OK.”

Balcon de Taurito is misnamed as it is now Taurito Building which didn't help us to find the place initially.
These apartments are mainly people's homes. It is quiet and peaceful. Mark's flat is at the top and very close to the swimming pool. It was a bit too chilly to use this but I could imagine it being of great benefit in warmer weather.
Mary (very helpful and chatty) met us and showed us around the apartment which size wise was great but frankly was a bit "tired". Being high up gave a view which wasn't unpleasant but not as wonderful as previous reviewers have indicated.
The beds were comfortable. The extra bedding and towels were rather haphazardly shoved in the wardrobe and fell out every time I slid the doors open. I moved them and then replaced them at the end of the stay. It seemed silly to have wardrobe space taken up with linen.
The kitchen was adequate - it had everything we needed.
Our big gripe was the shower and hot water pressure. The cold water was fine but a little dribble of hot water both for a shower and washing up was very very irritating. Having a cold to luke warm shower when needed was not pleasant. We have emailed the owner but have not had a response from him yet.
I was unable to connect to Wifi in the apartment itself. I could just about manage it on the large, very nice balcony facing in a certain direction. This was a disappointment. In the foyer (six floors down) Wifi was brilliant but part of the reason we chose that apartment was because of Wifi IN the apartment.
We ate out most evenings and there are plenty of restaurants in Puerto de Mogan which made us glad we had hired a car for the week. There is a small supermarket close to the apartments for absolute basics and hotel which welcomes visitors for lunch. We ate there a couple of times and were very happy with what was served. As for Taurito itself I don't think there's much going on. I would highly recommend a vehicle or catching buses to get to other places. There is a Spar shop in Puerto de Mogan for shopping and a couple of other supermarkets too.
The interior of Gran Canaria in the mountains is beautiful with stunning scenery. A trip to the north and a drive along the coast will show you the green, beautiful side of the island. There were one or two older villages which we enjoyed but we found the island lacking in historical places to visit.
It depends what you enjoy on a holiday and what is important to you as to whether you would rate this apartment higher than the three circles we have awarded it. We appreciated the peace and quiet, and were happy to drive to see parts of the island that maybe are missed by some people. Not everyone is happy to drive I know, in which case you might go a little stir crazy if confined to the Taurito area. There is far more to Gran Canaria than the dry, arid very developed south coast.
It is a lovely island. We had sunshine but I understand it was unusually cool for the week we were there. The apartment would be vastly improved with a different bathroom and something done about the hot water and Wifi reception.

We had a fantastic 1 week stay in Taurito. The location was excellent with a short walk to the centre of the resort from our apartment & with the bus stop right outside our door we could be in the pretty fishing village of Puerto Mogan within minutes. The apartment itself was very well equipped with all the essentials that other places so often lack and the view, breathtaking! The complex was peaceful and quiet and offered a welcome escape for 2 work weary visitors.

“Perfect apartment for us”

This was our second Christmas here. We love the fact the building is mostly residential and therefore quiet and peaceful. There's also no one above or next door - big bonus ! There's a little supermarket just up the hill, and another one on one of the hotel premises too. We did our main shopping at the superdino in Puerto Mogan. It's true there s not much in Taurito itself, but this may change in time and there's plenty within easy reach by car or bus. You can go in the hotels for a drink but if you have a car, there are great restaurants not far away at Puerto Mogan (park near the superdino and walk into town) or, on the coast road at Tauro there are two good restaurants almost opposite each other. A boat trip from Mogan to Amfi is a must. This apartment is the perfect base for a great holiday.
