“Far from the madding crowd!”
Reviewed 1 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We originally found Los Almendros on the Holiday Lettings website although the owners own website has good detail about the area and places to visit that are within an hour or two of the villa. The photos of the views are what initially got us hooked and when you see them in the flesh, they look even better! From the first moment you and your family walk down the steps to the pool, you will fall in love with the view and will never tire of it... it's what makes this property so special. On arrival, the owner arranged for neighbours of Los Almendros to meet us a couple of miles away from the property so that we could follow them up into the mountains to the villa. This was a very nice touch... it may have taken a little longer to find it if we hadnt been chaperoned! The villa has everything you need... big lounge with huge TV (although there are no British programmes apart from BBC news. That said, as there is WiFi, our children used their tablets to watch anything they missed in the UK!). Bedrooms are all great, kitchen (with is great view from the window) is very well equipped (dishwasher, washing machine etc etc) and there was a good stock of cooking ingredients. Also plenty of new toiletries provided (lots of toilet roll, shower gel, hand soaps etc etc) so we literally only had to buy what we consumed (we may of course have been lucky and had all the items left by previous renters but, as all the items were new and unused, we assumed the owner had kindly provided them). The air conditioned bedrooms meant that you got an excellent nights sleep (without the air conditioning we'd have struggled!). We used the pool every day; it was cleaned a couple of times during our visit and was also cleaned the day we arrived. There is a small supermarket a couple of miles away and Lidl which is around a 30 minute drive. We did have a couple of issues during our stay but the owner was on to them very very quickly; it was a comfort to know we were dealing with such a conscientious owner. We would have loved to have been able to use the bar-be-cue next to the pool (we'd have cooked all our food out there) but unfortunately, with the villa being on the border of a nature reserve, we were told BBQ's are banned during the summer months (for obvious reasons). If you want a holiday that takes you away from everything, this should certainly be a consideration for you... it's relaxation personified. All in all, a fabulous villa and pool that made our holiday one that my family will never forget.

“All the home comforts, but with sun, great pool and smashing views as an added bonus”
Reviewed 12 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

What a great place! The villa is very well equipped, has beautiful terraces, and moreover has sublime views. We had loads of plans to drive around Andalusia, but as soon as we got to the house they went in the bin. Just sitting, reading and watching the view, having a swim made us feel more relaxed than we had been in ages. The 'White Villages' in the area are great to have diner, outside on picturesque squares. Don't forget to try the vino Dulce. Yumm.

“Great place to spend the holidays!”
Reviewed 4 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Beautiful, comfortable house with a nice swimming pool and splendid views. The town Cómpeta is only 10min away by car and you’ll find there everything you need.
We think it’s the perfect place for people who are looking for a place to relax, enjoy the sun, the nature and good food. The only downside would be the road from Malaga to Los Almendros, which is quite long (+/- 1h). Fortunately, you forget all about it once you’ve arrived :-)

“Great house with stunning views”
Reviewed 19 December 2014 for a stay in October 2014

My daughter (15 years) and I spend the last week of October 2014 at Los Almendros, high up in the hills. The house on large plot with almond trees, bordering a national park offers lots of privacy, but still close enough to the coast as we also visited Malaga and Nerja for shopping and beach time.
The house has everything you need as visitor a good equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms and dining arrears in- and outside and a spacious living room. Everything clean and freshly painted. There is a good size pool, but also internet. Both, but specially the internet, are vital for a 15 year old.
There are more houses that look as good, but it is the view that sets this house apart. I was stunned by the view when we arrived and week later I could still just sit there and enjoy the view with the mountains on one side and the sea peaking through the hills on the other. No picture can fully capture this.
There is no such thing perfection. My only comment would be that you need to take the car for all your groceries as it is a bit secluded, but that is just a small price for what you get.
This is a place I will definitely go back to.
