Myself, my husband and our 13 year old son stayed at this villa for the October half term. The meeting arrangements with Stephan, the owner, worked extremely well and we followed him up the hillside to the villa.
The villa is located off the beaten track so a hire car is essential. Once up to the villa the views are spectacular. Views across and down the valley - offering the most beautiful sunsets and then amazing stargazing opportunities - take some binoculars with you!
Upon entering the villas gates there is a steep slope down to one of the villas terraces ,which is where the car can be parked but we parked outside the gates due to the steepness. From the gates you go to your right and enter into an open plan living/dining room. There is a T.V and a DVD player - with a few DVD's available to watch. There is a comfortable settee with a dining table and chairs. There is also a very good log burning fire that we lit one night as the temperature dropped - lovely and snug!
From this room you go through a door out onto a balcony with a table and chairs on, along with a bistro table with a couple of additional chairs. The views from here are great! Along the balcony you can enter the double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. There is a double bed, two generous built in wardrobes, chest of drawers, bedside drawers, bedside lamp and two mirrors. There are plenty of hangers to use along with an air con unit. The bathroom has bath, shower, toilet, two basins and two mirrors.
Leaving the ensuite room and heading through the living/dining room you reach the further bedrooms. One is a twin room with a large built in wardrobe that housed the iron and ironing board along with plenty of spare towels if needed. There is an air con unit in this room too with a bedside unit and a lamp. There is also a dressing table with under drawer storage. In the additional double bedroom there is a double bed, bedside units with a bedside lamp, another, large, built in wardrobe and an air con unit. This bedroom leads out onto the balcony.
In between these two bedrooms is another bathroom that has a toilet, basin, mirror shower cubicle and a bath. It also had a very powerful hairdryer as well ( not a wall mounted one but a 'normal' one!)
The villas kitchen is a great size. It has everything you would need. Microwave, fridge/freezer, oven, toaster, blender and a table and chairs. There are plenty of utensils and additional kitchen items that you may require.
Next door to the kitchen there is an opening to the stairs that lead you down to the garage, utility and another bathroom. There is a baby gate insitu so that it is safe for families with young children. When you reach the bottom of the stairs there is a handy utility room on your right with a dryer and a washing machine in it. Opposite the utility there is the garage. Further down the corridor is a bathroom with a toilet, shower cubicle and a basin. There are then sliding doors to the terrace.
The terrace is a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the sun but it also offers shade when needed. There is an extremely comfortable three piece suite of garden cane furniture, that you just sink into a relax!!! There is also a gas BBQ, table and chairs, two sun loungers and the small pool. The pool has stepped access into it.
From this terrace you then head downhill to the main pool area. This is not suitable for people with reduced mobility as it is very steep. There are some steps part of the way but it is not recommended for people who may struggle. Once down to the main pool it is beautiful. There is a shady spot with sun loungers and a small table provided and the pool itself is a very good size. There is an additional space for a game of football or other ball games as well. We can imagine that in the peak season the pool will be a welcome relief from the heat - in October we did get into it a couple of times but the water was chilly!! The views from this area are, again, stunning. Climbing back up to the villa makes you stop and take a breath as it is a steep climb but it can be done!
This villa was spotlessly clean and had everything that we needed for our week away. We throughly enjoyed the peace and quiet and stargazing at night.
Once you find this secluded Villa you will not be disappointed.
The owner Stephan was very pleasant and fluent in English which was a big help once we arrived.
The villa has amazing views from the balcony leading out from two of the bedrooms and the lounge and once you walk down a steep path of only a short distance you arrive at the main pool which is a detached from everything and everyone and us adults could really relax on the supplier loungers knowing the children could make as much noise as they wanted splashing away in front of magnificent mountainous views.
The plunge pool which sits next to the lower level outside dining area and gas BBQ is a fantastic added bonus and looks fantastic with the lights on once the night sets in.
All of the floors are polished tiles inside the villa which makes cleaning easy and any spillages stress free.
The TV channels are all in Spanish at the villa and streaming live is impossible with the WiFi but this is the same everywhere in this area and not an exclusive problem at the villa, but why would you want to be indoors anyway with the fantastic views and almost guaranteed sunny weather! The WiFi connection is ok however for web surfing.
The kitchen is kitted out to a great standard with microwave, cooker, hob, refrigerator and dishwasher and downstairs you will find a washing machine and tumble dryer in the laundry room.
This really is an idyllic villa in a wonderful setting. A car is definitely essential whilst at the villa as Alcaucin town is a 5 minute drive away but only 20 minutes extra drive away is the wonderful and nearest Torre del mar beach and so you really can have the best of both worlds staying here.
My family of 2 adults and 4 children recommend it without hesitation.
Thank you Stephan for a wonderful stay.
