Well equipped apartment furnished to a very high standard. A tranqil spot on The Mere at Thorpeness. Very friendly owners live next door (apartment is a side addition to the main house although it doesn't feel attached) this is our 2nd visit and not our last. There are 2 pubs and the golf club within easy walking distance offering food.
The property was of a high standard had everything we needed. It was great to be able to sit on the patio area, and relax looking down the garden to the meare. Great location to explore Suffolk with places like Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Minsmere and Lavenham to mention a few. We would certainly have no hesitation in staying at the Lily Pad again.
The Lily pad enjoys a superb location overlooking the Meare at Thorpeness .
The accommodation is excellent and well appointed.Gillian ,the owner, is a delight and so helpful. We were sorry to leave -but will definitely return.
We visited Southwold,Orford,and Snape maltings.
Aldeburgh is a very pleasant 30 minute walk away along the beach. There are several restaurants here and the famous Aldeburgh fish and chip shop too.The High Street hosts many independent shops which sell a good range of quality products including food, clothing ,jewllerry, books and antiques.
One evening we visited the village pub in Thorpeness, the Dolphin, Inn (which also serves food and cask ales) and watched Morris dancers ! They were such fun and so enthusiastic.
Thorpeness is quiet, relaxing and away from the maddening crowds ,ideal for leisurely walks and chilling out.
We loved our week at the Lily Pad .
