A very peaceful hike with wild avocado, oak and other huge buttress trees shading the trail. Surrounded by birdsong the whole way. The temperature is generally cooler than one would expect in Costa Rica but given the elevation should be understood. We saw many species of birds along the trail including the Quetzal. The Falls is very nice but in my opinion eclipsed by the the sound, smell and sight of the flora and fauna you’ll see along the way. Beautiful and invigorating hike.

There is a nice walk along the river to the waterfall. However beware that the second part of the walk after the metal bridge is dangerous. There is a sign which says don't go beyond this point in bad weather. However even in good weather the path is badly maintained and metal staircases have steps missing and the metal swing bridge across the river sways a lot. just be careful!

This is a very nice trail along the Savegre River and a good place to observe birds. Part way down the left side of the river is in the National Park Los Quetzales, sometime there are Quetzal but the trail can be rather crowed duing weekend and during the hight season. The trail was blocked off after the frist falls probably due to damage from Hurricane Nate last October

Beautiful facility, but poorly managed. The birdlife is fabulous, but allowing guests to play with drones really diminished our stay, as did the red feet from the floors. You will see quetzals, but paying $50 to drive one mile up the driveway, was disappointing. We learned later that the same "tour" is $10 down the road. Coffee is found only in the restaurant, which opens at 7 a.m. Breakfasts are excellent; lunch and dinner are expensive and so-so. For the price, we wouldn't recommend Trogon, when there are other very nice facilities to be found in this beautiful valley.
