I have been there in march 2017 with my girlfriend. Was a really bad experience because the lady on the reception stole us money while we had our bags in the locker.
We had to check out before 12:00, but they said we can have the lunch for free but we have to bring our bags in the locker-room. So we did that. After the lunch we went back took our stuff and went in a cheaper hotel with a better internet conection.

Immediately in the other hotel we realized that somebody went to our bags. We counted our money and about 150$ were missing. We were shocked and we went straight to the Golden Paradise Hotel. The Lady at the reception was not really friendly. It seemed that she knew why we are here. She said she dont know anything about it and i wanted to talk with the manager, she just said he is not there and we should not search him because as she said he is not there. So we had no chance to talk to anyone there. The treatment was not nice.

Everybody who went already to Venezuela knows that its not that easy to make an report at the police there in the actual situation, because usually they try to trick or cheat you if you are a "gringo".
The owner from the other hotel was half austrian/half italian and he told us we have to forget it. Police will not do anything. They just want more mony from you.....

Sure it was not the smartest idea to leave all our important stuff in the locker room in the bags but that kind of stuff should never happen to guests in a hotel.

Rated at 3 stars, should be less.
Check-in was quick. You are given a TV remote and towels.
You have to carry your bags to your room.
Grounds are attractive, buildings quite unique in their architecture.
The rooms are quite a nice size, with a balcony overlooking the empty lot next door. The compressor for the A/C takes up 1/4 of the space.
The bathroom is quite nicely sized.
The shower, however, is not nice. The head was damaged, so the water was just pouring out. Seems to be the same in all rooms. The hot water worked fine.
The beds were comfortable, sheets cleaned.
The TV remote did not work. It took 2 days for them to sort this out!
The A/C worked well, but showed signs that it had not been serviced for a while. I had to ask for the remote. It was set at 16 degrees and the room was cold!
There are two small pools each with a bar, but only one bar is operational.
The restaurant is quit quaint. Semi-outdoors with a lovely wood theme. Food ran out one night. I was assured this would not happen again, but guess what: again at breakfast 3 days later! Do you not know how many guests you have to cater for? The choice was extremely limited, with only rice, chicken, muscles and fish available 3x a day, sometimes noodles. Breakfast was supplemented by eggs, dinner by the thinnest cut watermelon. Glasses were mason jars. Not too bad. Plates and cutlery constantly ran out.
Drinks? What drinks? Guava and passion fruit juices were rotated every day. No milk and sugar for coffee. Guests brought their own drinks!
So the price was low, but I was expecting just a little more. I will advise travelers to go elsewhere than here.
