We have been in this Hotel only for a Lunch on Ascension day. We had organized a trip of the three lakes by boat and had decided to have a nice stroll on the island and something to eat in the only restaurant of the island.
The Restaurant, as it was a holiday, was very well visited, and, as we had foreseen this, reserved a table. Being the only restaurant on the island I would always recommend to reserve a table. Our first table die not impress us as it was in the shadow. As some guest left and their table was in the sun, we asked if we could be seated there – it was no problem at all.
Even though the restaurant was full, and many of the guests were pressured as they had to be back for their boat at a certain time, the service was very nice and friendly and even found some time for a bit of discussion. We also got asked several times if everything is ok and if we need anything more.
The different plates we had ordered arrived very quickly and have been very delicious. They also did not arrive all at the same time. AS we had a starter the waiter waited until we had finished to then bring main course. WE felt really welcome at this place. One can look up the menu on the internet already. Prices as such I’d say a fair, they are not cheap but do not exploit the fact that there is nothing else around.
We will return, and maybe even stay in the hotel for a couple of nights.

A very unique place: magical and peaceful at the beginning of April. The view of the Bernese Alps from the enchanted oak forest is extremely romantic. I felt like in a Caspar-David-Friedrich painting. The service at the hotel is very friendly. The only drawback: the choice of vegetarian food is very limited.

The hotel and surroundings are very beautiful and calm! I only stayed there for one night with some family and friends. We stayed in a large bedroom very well decorated with a great view for the lake and garden! Peaceful place to rest. The only problem is that you only can reach the hotel by boat at certain times of the day or you can go by bike (about 15 or 20 min.) or by foot (1 hour).
The staff is not very friendly but was ok...
The breakfast was very good!
A magnificent place for a break from reality!

I spent two nights on this hotel.
I must have received the worst room in the hotel, although the paid price was for another room category. The room was just overlooking the yard that is used for dinners and lunches, so one can imagine how noisy this room can be. When I looking to be helped by the reception, I was told that the receptionist will be back just next morning. 1 hour later, I just saw the lady in the yard, she knew that I am the person complaining about the room, but she did not bother to approach me or offer any help.
The staff generally is arrogant. The hotel is located very near to the beach of the lake of Biel, however, and strange enough, there is not an organized place, where guests that would like to swim and relax on the beach. On the other hand, just in front of the hotel there is a huge grass are where farm animals gaze. This place is very close to what could serve as the 'beach' of the hotel. However, when you try to sit there on the grass, you are attacked by swarms of flies coming from the gazing area.
Simply unbelievable!
Honestly, sadly disappointing!

This hotel is mainly about the remote location. We got there by bike, which is a real experience by itself. The view from the hotel to the lake is amazing. The hotel has been refurbished recently with a lot of style and respect for the old, existing base of the Kloster.
The management and staff are very friendly, caring, helpful, couldn't be better.
We didn't eat there in the evening, so can't say much about the food. Breakfast was basically everything you could wish for, loads of different things like breads, rolls, croissants, cheeses, müslis, fruit, joghurt etc.
Also, we found it great with kids. They have plenty of space to play outside, no cars, nothing. Well, all other guest were "romantic couples" so it was pretty quiet, hope nobody was feeling disturbed by the kids. We had an amazing time!
