We found the property to be well equipped and well situated.
But we found that the bedding had stains on them some was mascara,so before we could sleep we had to wash the bedding.
My friend has MS and found that the stairs was a problem as they are very steep , there was ever stairs to the on sweet bathroom.
The house felt very damp .
wifi we could not get so we had to buy a 5 day package from BT.
This is a lovely old cottage, warm, comfortable and well-equipped (except for only a small 2 slice toaster which makes for a slow breakfast!). As it is only a couple of seconds to a fast corner of the road, the addition of an inner stable door was a useful safety factor for our energetic toddler.(as it would be for dogs) Also, although there was no promise of an outside area, we did not realise that there would be none at all.
The beds and bedding were very comfortable and extremely clean with plenty of pillows, and feather & down quilts.
The stairs are a safety factor and should be specifically mentioned in the description of the cottage. There are 4 sets and they are winding and somewhat slippery where they are not carpeted. The ones to the 3rd floors do not have anywhere near enough grab rails and the lino is slippery and not a good idea from the bathrooms. These would be a potential safety hazard for 'giddy' kids and the elderly, less-able or infirm.
Additionally there were a couple of issues while we were there- no wifi (trouble with BT router) and no shower (faulty cut-out on old equipment). I expect these will be fixed shortly, and could not be helped, but they did mar our stay somewhat.
Overall we had a good stay and the house is delightful. I would recommend to able-bodied friends with older children.

Thordisa Cottage is a lovely house situated off the main road through Sandsend and close to the beck. It is almost adjacent to The Hart pub which offers good food and is quiet. We heard no noise from it. The house is well equipped and offers two good bedrooms and an attic room which is up a second windy staircase. Everything was clean and the house has plenty of facilities including wi fi. The bed linen is of good quality too which is important to me. I would live there if I could.
