We stayed in October 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed Fare Vai Nui. The staff were very helpful and enjoyable to greet every morning. Food was delicious. The cottages are extremely well built and feature beautiful wood work. The kayaking off the shore is awesome and they even have GOOD bikes for visitor use. This is a quiet side of Raiatea Island. Roads are less crowded and the days seem more tranquil. Highly recommend if you want a very intimate, private visit to Tahiti.

We spent two days here and wished we could have stayed longer! Jean Jacques and his staff are SO pleasant and accommodating. The food was outstanding. We went nowhere else during our time here. Our friends had described the sashimi for lunch AND dinner for both days, and they have had quite a lot of sashimi in their time. "Succulent, delectable" were the words they used to describe it. The breakfast waiting for us included fresh chocolate croissants, crepes, baguettes, and then they asked if we would like eggs and bacon. The rooms were clearly built by craftsman -- the sink was carved out of local wood. We could see waterfalls behind our rooms. My husband, daughter and our friends took the kayaks out to a small island down from the resort as well as to a reef. We feel we got a fabulous experience for our money - highly recommend the Fare Vai Nui !!

We spent three days here before a scheduled sailing trip which turned out to be a blessing. My wife came down with the flue on flight #2 of the 4 to get here. She spent two days sleeping in the very quiet and air conditioned cabin while I had the use of their kayaks, bicycles, and snorkel gear. But most of my time was spent reading on the shaded deck overlooking the beach. With the excellent restaurant and bar just steps away, there was no reason to go anywhere, even though we could rent their car a half day at a time. We loved the fish pen at the end of the dock. Sitting there and feeding all the different fish was a joy. The staff was very friendly and seemed more worried about my wife than I was.

We had a lovely evening meal here, just after sunset on Sunday. There was nowhere else open. The food was delicious, service excellent. Location means that sunsets are visible, adding to the ambience of the evening. Great night, thanks.

Following our luxury catamaran cruise, we stayed 3 nights in 2 of the 4 bungalows. Bungalows were beautiful (you'll note a Balinese theme) and in a beautiful setting; each has a small porch with chairs for enjoying the sunset views (Bora Bora in the distance). We arrived when the restaurant was closed to the public, and the staff had some days off. Yet the owner and wife kept the restaurant and bar fully open for us, and our bungalows were kept pristinely clean. Beds were comfortable; we had a good amount of shelving and closet space, AC with remote plus ceiling fan, and a spacious bathroom. We did not air condition the bathroom (kept door shut) because there was no way to close the screened venting window there. Probably a good idea in such a humid setting. We had rented a car, and enjoyed driving around the island and exploring at our own pace and inclinations. The food at Fare Vai Nui was always fresh, incredibly seasoned, beautifully presented, and portions large. Would definitely stay there again. Missed having WiFi in bungalows, but it worked at the pool, restaurant and bar. Staff was happy to make local calls for us for information and tours. We had the last 2 bungalows in the row of 4, so our location might have been quietest if the restaurant/bar had been open and in high season. The road runs very close to the bungalows and the beach here, but they have a solid fence and a lovely garden of tropical shrubs, flowers, and fruits that serve to deaden sound. And it's a pretty quiet island once you're away from the cruise ship area.

Room Tip: the "deluxe" bungalow adds a twin-sized bed with trundle, so if you have children or tons of luggage to spread out...
