“Lovely cottage, located in beautiful countryside.”
Reviewed 16 July 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Had a lovely week in this gorgeous cottage. Old on the outside but beautifully modern on the inside. Great bathrooms and bedrooms. Couldn't fault it

Cottage really good, location good,
Super kingsize bed amazing.
Our pet greyhound thought he was in heaven with all the rabbits around.
Owners directions are spot on to find the cottage.

This is a real get away from it all cottage with all the comforts of home. The wifi makes it possible to contact the outside world and is a very good signal. Well equipt kitchen including handy dish washer. Lovely big bath for a long soak. Waking up opening the curtains and seeing the snow covered countryside was stunning. The views are really lovely we had some lovely walks. Local village offers local craft shop and two well stocked shops for supplies. Good pub grub in the village pubs and the CB inn food was exceptional. Even the four legged friend we took loved it, looking through the lounge window at the pheasants walking along the wall outside. We would throughly recommend you rent this cottage for a break from the hustle and bustle. After you get to the CB inn from the direction of Reeth you see the phone box look for the closed wooden gate with swallowholme on and that's the way in. We used google earth to find the property, very handy.

I was dreaming that I had a lovely cup of tea sitting on a lovely comfortable sofa with a lovely piece of cake in front of a warming log burner. A meal was cooking in a most pleasant and usefully equipped kitchen while I explored the provisions of the good sized television. I was looking forward to using the splendid shower and a good sleep in the enormous double bed whilst my son wallowed happily in the bath. I then realised that I wasn't dreaming but was at 1 Swallowholm Cottages; even better than dreaming.

Amazing cottage. Pictures don't do it justice! Huge comfy bed, massive shower, roll top bath, quiet, well equiped kitchen. Took a bit getting used to the slightly brown water though.

Management Response
24 Jan 2016
Thank you for your positive review, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I hope the colour of the water wasn't too much of an issue for you. The water supply to the cottage is from a natural spring high up on the moor. After heavy rainfall the water can appear brown. The water passes through a UV treatment and filtration process in the shed opposite the cottage. It is tested annually to ensure that it meets legal requirements so it is perfectly safe, but it can appear a little odd after very heavy rainfall.
