Great stay at Sydney Hotel, Kastraki

Review of Sydney Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Sept 2013
The location of this hotel is great when visiting Meteora monasteries. Kastraki is a very nice village and Sydney Hotel is conveniently located in the center with view to the mountains.
The hotel has free wifi that works in the rooms, lovely dining room and terrace.
The breakfast is classic continental, but very tasty; a good start in the morning.
The room we stayed in was very comfortable, with a small refrigerator, dressing, places to deposit the luggage, balcony with table and 2 chairs.
Bathroom has hair dryer, apart from the usuals.
The owners are lovely people, always ready to help.
The hotel has its own parking in the back yard.
Within 5 minutes walk there are 4 taverns to serve lunch/dinner.
We stayed here for 2 nights, we loved it and I strongly recommend this place when visiting the Meteoras, rather than Kalambaka.

my bf and i stayed here and found it to be the best priced value for money place weve stayed in so far on our europe trip. the owner angelo and his niece do a fantastic job. rooms are spotless, aircon is ice cold, the bus stop up to meteora is 20m down the road plus the view from the room is amazing. breakfast is basic but filling and fresh. seeing the aussie flag out the front was even a nice touch of home for 2 aussie backpackers

The owners were extremely kind, welcoming, informative, and very very helpful. The location is perfect for visiting the monasteries of Meteora and you can see the rocks/cliffs right from the room's window. The rooms are clean, air conditioned, and well kept. Breakfast is freshly made. Any kind of problem you may have, ask the owners and they are more than happy to help (we know from personal experience). I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone wishing to visit the region. For my next trip to Meteora, I am booking my stay with them.

A wonderful place to stay!
We booked 2 rooms - one for 3 persons and one for 2 persons. The rooms were spacious, nice balcony, and very comfortable beds. You will get a warm and friendly welcome at the Sydney.
The breakfast had a good selection and we especially enjoyed their homemade jams.
The best thing in Sydney Hotel is its's owner Angelo. He welcomes you warmly with cold orange juice. He was really nice and took the time to explain to us where to go, what to eat, and advised us on how we can plan our stay.
During our holiday in Greece, this one had the best value in terms of room and service received compared to the amount of money we paid. It is an excellent base for exploring Meteora. In the evening you can sit on your balcony or the hotel terrace with your choice of drink and watch the fantastic rock formations slowly blend into the twilight. The village is small but has a couple of shops including a bakery. There is a good value taverna next door.
Great place to stay for cheap with fantastic service, would recommend to anyone visiting.
Angelo, greetings from Velislav Velkov and all the family!

Room tip: In the evening you can sit on your balcony or the hotel terrace with your choice of drink and watch the fantastic rock formations slowly blend into the twilight.

I have just returned from Greece [23rd June]. I Stayed at the Sydney hotel for 10 nights and I found it to be one of the best basic hotels I have been to, for comfort, cleanliness, service, and
good breakfast [continental type] The views from the hotel are amazing. The Meteora are only a few meters away and if you enjoy walking you can reach the first one in 10 or 15 minutes.Otherwise you can drive and visit all the monasteries by car. You can use each monastery's car park before your ascend to the top.The only downside to the holiday at Meteora
is that once you visit all the Monasteries [seven in total] and you can achieve that in 2or 3 days
there is nothing else to stay there for.

This is a simple, little hotel which was a pleasure to stay in.
The location is spectacular for the views and ideal for a quick journey to the Meteora.
The service is friendly and informative, and very welcoming.
The room was clean and bed comfortable, but not a lot of space. The bathroom itself was okay, a little rough round the edges but suitable for what we needed. Really, you would use this hotel as a stopping point to visit the local area, as opposed to spending your time in your room!
The breakfast was adequate. All in all, this place is great for its price!
I would suggest a visit to the Paradiso restaurant which is a very short walk up the road. Great food!!
