The cottage I would guess has recently been renovated and the owner has made an excellent job of it. The bedrooms are on the ground floor, so that the first floor is one large space containing the kitchenette and living area. It's beautifully lit with side windows and skylights, giving wonderful views of the surrounding countryside on one side and on the other, intimate views of the local wildlife. And it's quality throughout in terms of the furnishings, equipment and furnishings (even to new, sharp knives, often missing in rentals!). The location is also extremely quiet and peaceful with access to some of the best walks and scenerary in Northumberland. Within easy access of surrounding towns, Hexham and Haltwhistle. We'll be going again!!!

My partner and I spent a lovely week with our baby son at Shepherd's Cottage.
It's in a perfect location: far enough from busy roads so that you can really sense that you're out in the country, but close enough so that you're never more than a fifteen minute drive to the supermarket. The views from the grounds and the nearby public footpaths are beautiful, the locals are cheerful and friendly, while nearby towns and villages like Hexham and Bardon Mill are gems which are definitely worth a visit.
The cottage itself is really nicely presented; it was tempting to just stay at the house every day. The open kitchen-dining-living room on the first floor is spacious and well fitted out with just about everything you need. The wi-fi and Sky TV both worked without a hitch and the hot water worked even better than here at home!
Getting booked and moved in and out was really easy and friendly, so thanks very much again, Justin, for facilitating a great break for us, and our first holiday as a family.
What a great little find. So peaceful and tranquil set in beautiful countryside far from the hustle and bustle but with everything you need within a short driving distance. A great walk nearby too along the beutiful National Trust Allen Gorge.
