Description: The Twice Brewed is set amongst some of the most breathtaking scenery in England and stands in the shadows of Steel Rigg, without doubt one of the most dramatic parts of Hadrian’s Wall. The Inn is situated on the B6318 (The Military Road) midway between Newcastle Upon Tyne in the East and Carlisle in the West and is close to all the main Roman sites – Vindolanda, Housesteads and The Roman Army Museum. The Inn is on the popular Pennine Way route and welcomes walkers with a drying room and other facilities. We are also on the Hadrians Cycleway (Route 72) and near the Sandstone Way cycle route. We are 4 miles away from Haltwhistle train station and 15 miles away from Hexham train station

Visited mid afternoon Good Friday...not the best day I'm sure as the pub was really busy! However there were plenty of (generally) helpful young members of staff so no long delays but tables could have been cleaner!
Cant say the food was anything special but it was good and the only place I have ever ordered fish & chips and there wasn't a bit of batter to be seen...quite a surprise.
Beer was apparently good (not me drinking it) as was the wine and it seemed good value.
Probably worth trying again on a quieter day.

Dear Denise B,

Thank you for leaving us a review and granted, Good Friday was super busy with various things, it is kind of you to note that.

Hopefully you get a chance to visit on a quieter day so we can really show you our stuff!

Best wishes,

TB

My wife and I had visited this pub about two week previously and it was a pleasant drink in a very nice locality. We could not believe that on a Friday afternoon the comparison could not have been worse. A very nice pub/restaurant full of uncontrolled screaming children. Tables in the bar areas with no occupants and an empty restaurant but all with reserved notices. Unable to dine and despite having to wait at the bar for a drink whilst children were served also at the bar their beer was quite palatable. This is an experience that we will not repeat. A lovely location but the staff need extensive re-training and awareness and knowledge of the licensing laws. We were not able to attach images of the premises as there were young children running wild everywhere.

Dear leuan2014,

Our apologies, you must’ve managed to hit our Easter extravaganza for local children - 2 hours each year. It’s fun and the children love it, it seems you did less so and we are sorry about this.

Nevertheless we hope you have had a lovely Easter weekend and thank you for the compliment on the beer.

Best wishes,

TB

This pub/restaurant is ideally located only a few minutes from Steel Rigg Carpark near to Sycamore Gap and has its own brewery.

The pub is dog/child friendly, with log burning fires and offering a fine selection of real ales, just what we wanted after our long cold walk. Bar food was very good and reasonably priced. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming.

The weather wasn't great but it looked like the pub would be great in the summer with a good outdoor seating area to the rear.
We will certainly be returning very soon when we explore more of the area.

Twice Brewed is a well-run but informal pub with an extensive menu and good wine list. Friendly staff and good service in a nice setting right by Hadrian's Wall. Great to pop in if you're staying at the Sill YHA hostel next door.
