For the hanami, they took out the arts that displays sakuras and hanami paintings. Really nice. The usual collection is also interesting.

If you are interested in history, this is a must visit place. Even you can even spend one day. But since we were in a rush, we covered the whole place in 3 hours.

You get the real feeling of a museum when you visit this place.
Best thing is you can see a mummy and even the skull.

The museum has some beautiful artifacts that show a good cross-sectional of the historical society. It covers almost every thing from swords to pottery. Most (but not all) can be photographed if your camera can overcome the low lighting. A document I was impressed with (which I was unable to photograph) wasn't available for purchase in the book/gift shop. The shop is very good with a great selection of interesting items.

The museum is located conveniently in Ueno Park and children get in free. It has an excellent collection of swords, paintings, pottery, and other local items that illustrate rich Japanese history. Well worth an hour or two or three.

Large museum with so much to see! The lines to get in move very quickly. It’s an enormous museum so you could spend several hours here.
