Owner description: According to legend, two brothers kept trying to return a statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, to the Sumida River only to have it returned to them the next day. This temple located in Tokyo's Asakusa district was built to honor her.

Once you get to Asakusa, make your way towards Senso-ji temple. You will walk into a market loaded with shopping experience and a culinary adventure. And once you get to the temple, watch people perform their prayers and read their fortune. It such a peaceful experience and lots of beautiful scenery for your eyes to enjoy.

Well worth a visit to watch the locals visiting their temple. The gardens are serene and well laid out. The temple is well looked after. Colours are wonderful.

This was listed as a "must see" in our guidebook, and I agree that it is an impressive temple. It expands to include other areas to walk through, small shrines and statues that are interesting to see. My three teenagers enjoyed burning incense and making wishes in the main building. Definitely a memorable experience, enhanced by the beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom in April! Many people came in traditional Japanese kimonos - maybe for photo shoots? - and this was interesting to see as well.

This place gets busy especially on Sundays, but worth a visit. The place was buzzy with snack stall from the gate to the temple. There were several sections to visit and lots of interesting bits.
You need to spend more time here to soak up the atmosphere. Try and come here when you are hungry as there are lots of snacks to enjoy.
