The four of us stayed in two double rooms. The rooms were a bit small but very cozy and nicely furnished. The beds are of good quality.
The airconditioning system, however, was not working as desired in some rooms. The reception staff spoke very good English and was very friendly.
The hotel is located near Ikebukuro station and has several convenience stores on walking distance.
While you are here, do try out the nearby ramen shop called "Mutekiya". There is always a long line waiting outside, but it is totally worth your while.

We stayed at the Metropolitan Hotel - Superior Room for 6 nights in end March to early April 2013. Good location, a short walk to the shopping malls. There is Lumine Ikebukuro, Tobu and Seibu departmental stores. Check in was fast and efficient. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

There are many restaurants on the 8th Floor of Lumine Ikebukuro. So there was no lack of choices of food during our stay. There is a great sushi shop on the 8th floor.

The room size was ok for Japanese standard. The room is clean and well decorated. I can't fault anything on the room. Been to tokyo many times and this is my first stay in this hotel and I am impressed with the overall standard/service of this hotel.

Will stay there again.

The hotel is near the subway. Very convenient to travel around Tokyo on the Yamamoto Line.

Good location. Located in Ikebukuro, near the Ikebukuro train station, with direct Yamamote Line to Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ueno and Nippori (for transfer on the Keisei Line to the airport).

Small bedroom and pitiful bathroom. Not enough space to walk around, and bathroom is good for only 1 person.

Bed is rather hard and pillows are too soft for my liking.

Poor choices of international channels on TV. 4 only in fact. CNN, BBC, Phoenix and KBS. TV is also very small.

No safe available. I understand that Japan is a rather low-crime rate country, but I would still expect my hotel room to be equipped with a safe for locking up my foreign currency when I am out.

Value for money. For all that are mentioned above, you get what you paid and don't expect Park Hyatt quality and space.

Very conveniently located. Only 3 minutes walk to Ikebukuro station with many Tokyo Metro and Japan Railway lines. Nice 3 bedded room although small like most hotel rooms in Japan. Could not reserve a non smoking room and they did not have one available as only 30% of rooms are non smoking.

Just came back from Tokyo 1 week ago. Extended my Club Med Sahoro trip to Tokyo for another 4D3N. Travel with my wife and my baby gal (less than 2 years old).

Firstly, this hotel is situated very near Ikebukuro Station. I would say 5-10 min walk depending on which exit you take. Next to the hotel is Lumine and Tobu shopping malls. There is a police station next to the hotel too. Location wise, too good to be true as Ikebukuro is the 2nd busiest station. You practically can just shop and explore around here.

We was welcomed by friendly staffs and the check-in was smooth. The room is clean, neat and spacious enough for my 2 large luggage bags. The bed is comfy enough. The bathroom comes with a tub and the necessary toiletries are provided.

There is no room safe though, you might want to make other plans on keeping your valuables. Alternatively, you can deposit them at the reception. YES, like what the previous reviewers have stated, you need to pay for gym, pool and internet as well. I rented mobile hotspot for the entire stay thus I am not too worry about connectivity.

Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. My baby gal fell ill on the 2nd last day with high fever. We could not get a doctor around 5pm at Asasuka and decided to rush back hotel to get help. The duty manager upon understanding the situation immediately assist to contact a few hospitals nearby. He even took the effort to explain why some hospitals are not able to accept us due to the timing as well as the unavailability of children doctor. We appreciate his great help in securing a hospital for us to go to at crunch period.
