This place was so cool! After walking by a few times in the evening and seeing huge lineups, we were so happy to show up at lunchtime on a Friday (around 12:30PM) to see no lineup at all.
The seating is side by side at very long tables, facing the conveyor belt and your tablet. You have everything you need at your little space to enjoy your meal, including: green tea powder, cups, a tap with hot water, spoons, chopsticks, soy sauce, wasabi, ginger, seasonings, wet napkins for cleaning your hands, tiny bowls for pouring your soy sauce, and takeout boxes. Once seated, you order your food from the tablet (they have an English option and it was very easy to follow). You're allowed to order up to 3 items at a time before submitting your order. Within a couple of minutes, you get an alert on your tablet that the food is on its way, and seconds later a plate will arrive at your spot via the conveyor belt. You take your plate, and press a button on the tablet to confirm that you received your order. It was simple, quick and efficient, not to mention futuristic and novel.
The food itself was fresh and excellent. We tried many things, including salmon and tuna nigiris, a few variety of makis, shrimp tempura, udon noodle soup, and more.
Once you're done eating, you indicate on your tablet that you're finished and the bill will get sent up front to the cashier, We ordered so much food and were stuffed to the point of nearly exploding, yet our meal came to less than 1,000 yen each which we were shocked to see (ridiculously cheap).
We were looking forward to trying everything typically Japanese on our trip, including kaiten-zushi, and were thrilled to see that this wasn't just another tourist trap (in fact there were plenty of Tokyokko eating there when we went). I'd highly recommend this for a unique and inexpensive meal!
