Peaceful and calming. Love taking a slow walk and just be immerse with the surrounding. Enjoying the pace and peace away from the bustling city side!

We were looking forward to this place as the reviews were so good. The walk from the gate through the park was pleasant and peaceful. The actual park was okay but the shrine did not impress, leaving us to think we had missed something.
I would not have been disappointed if we hadn’t come here.

After visiting some Shrines, this was definitely the best place we've seen so far. Even if it was quite crowded, the monks we've seen and who welcomed us were always smiling, kind of ignoring the masses of people around there. True calmness. The garden and in general the entire place was very organized and very clean, different from some other shrines I've seen during our stay. The best is, that it's easy to reach.

Meiji Shrine is one of the largest shrines in Tokyo, with its large torii gates and grounds. It is easily accessible through the JR Harajuku station and through several metro lines. If you're lucky (and on a weekend), you may even witness a wedding ceremony as it is a popular spot to tie the knot in Tokyo. Best of all, it is free for the budget conscious.

The shrine is located in a large, forested park in the middle of the city. There a long pathway leading to the shrine, taking about 10-15 minutes walk. Do wear comfortable shoes as it is gravel pathway. It's a great way to escape the hustle-and-bustle of the city, but preferable when the weather is better as it is mostly outdoors.

Top sight to visit in Tokyo. We paid extra to see the gardens and it’s worth it. There’s multiple entrances for the grounds.
