We flew into Tokyo and booked one night at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel before taking the train to Kyoto and Osaka. The hotel room was a bit small, but very nice. Unfortunately, they didn't have any non-smoking rooms left, but since the hotel cleans the air in every room, our smoking room didn't smell too bad.
We had breakfast at the restaurant the next morning, but wish we had more time to explore the neighborhood as the food was just so-so. The orange juice and coffee were good, but it would have been better and faster to eat at the train station.
The hotel is really close to Shinagawa Station, so we were able to get going on our way fairly easily. Would stay here again if we need to be close to Shinagawa.More
