Beautiful house, everything we needed for a walking and cycling holiday. Anzar our host, couldn't have been more helpful. Two nice bars in walking distance both serving authentic Canarian food. Fifteen minute drive to beach at Bajamar. Lovely place.
The owner of this property couldn't have been more helpful from the very first contact and made the holiday very special for us. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, including organising an organic fruit and vegetable box for us to be delivered on our arrival. By 2016, the Finca's old vineyard should have been transformed into a productive organic farm, so you can look forward to eating straight from the garden. There are also orange, banana, lemon and custard apple trees.
The location was perfect for our needs, just 1km from the small town of Tegueste and within easy reach of the slightly larger town of Tejina, historic La Laguna, the northern beaches such as Bajamar and the rugged and beautiful walking area of the Anaga peninsula. Although public transport on the island seems quite good, I would recommend hiring a car for this holiday - I don't think any buses pass the house. If you want to spend a lot of time in the south of the island, this probably isn't the place to choose, although the motorway is only a few miles away so it would be feasible if you don't mind the drive.
The house itself is situated at the foot of an old volcano, its lower slopes cultivated and the crater covered with dense vegetation. The accommodation is accessed via a flight of external stairs and a further flight of steps takes you up onto the roof, with its sea views, plenty of space for relaxing and lines for drying washing. Down in the yard is an outside kitchen/barbecue area, partly covered, with plenty of room for cooking and eating. Downstairs internal spaces include the old winery and a large meeting room. The yard is accessed from the road via a remotely controlled gate, has plenty of parking space and is secure for children to play in, but be aware that at present you share the yard with two dogs who are friendly but large.
The door from the first floor veranda into the accommodation leads into a spacious kitchen and an adjoining living room/additional bedroom with double sofa bed and spare mattress. With the dividing curtains pulled back, this and the kitchen together make essentially one large, social room that would easily accommodate 10-12 people or more. Both these rooms look out over the outside kitchen, yard and Finca, up the slopes of the old volcano.
A corridor leads off the kitchen, well lit by large skylights. This gives access on the left to two internal bedrooms with windows onto the corridor: a master double bedroom with en suite shower and toilet and a twin bedded room. On the right are a utility room with washing machine and internal drying space, a bathroom with toilet, sink, bidet, bath and over-bath shower, and a further bedroom with a sea view and two single beds (one is a cabin bed). There is more than adequate storage in every room and plenty of bedding.
The only issue for a larger group using the property might be the hot water as the electric hot water tank isn't large - probably plenty for short showers but not enough for everyone to bath in quick succession.
The kitchen had everything we needed: gas hob, electric oven, fridge freezer and various appliances, lots of crockery, glassware and cutlery etc., a large table and plenty of chairs. Wi-Fi internet access is included; also, there's a large TV in the lounge and a small one in the master bedroom. There are also a few games, Spanish books and a comprehensive display of information leaflets.
This isn't a big tourist area and it took us a week to find some postcards! (hint - try the Tegueste Correos/post office). We can highly recommend the local produce market in Tegueste on Saturday and Sunday - all the fruit and veg you could want, including organic stalls, plus bread, pastries, jams, local craft and more. Walking in Anaga is strenuous because of the steep slopes but leads to breathtaking views. Likewise, the driving in Anaga is on narrow, winding roads but there are many spectacular viewpoints along the way. Many of the northern beaches have free outdoor swimming pools that protect from the sometimes fierce waves and fill with the tide. Most seem to have lifeguards. La Laguna is a beautiful old town but for my partner the highlight was the huge climbing wall in the local public park! Nearest supermarkets are in Tejina, although there's a shop that sells most things in the pedestrian area of Tegueste.
Hope this review helps people decide whether this property is right for them, but if you have any questions I'd recommend you contact the owner as I'm sure he will be happy to give you any additional information you need.
Because of the steps, the property may not be suitable for people with mobility issues, or possibly with young children.

Hi everyone,we just came back from our
holiday and we loved it.This year we decided to have a self catering holiday in a rural location insted of an all inclusive hotel brake and I must say that we loved it.
We have stayed in this wonderful house which is 10' from the North area airoport of the island. The house and area was really quite,we had barbeques,we walked around to explore,we did some hiking and with the help of a car we went to Puerto de la Cruz witch is a 20' drive, there we visited Loro Park, the islands orca wale and animal parc.We have also visited Santa Cruz the main city,15' drive. The beach is 10' away, nice restaurants close by.
We just loved it,we like the fact that the island has the sea all around and right in the middle is the volcano with nice scenary.
If you would like a rural, quite retreat then this is the place to visit. The house is set in the greener part of the island with great views and you have the vineyards in the garden, you can admire them with a glass of wine. The owner is amazing and really good fun,we had a good laugh with him.
