“Utterly faultless on all counts. But the location...”

The very best thing about this cottage was the location. We could do a different walk each day without needing to drive at all.

A clue was that the mass trespass onto Kinder Scout in 1932 started very close by. But even that did not indicate the range of fantastic walking options in any direction from the house.

Walk flat, climb up onto the Pennine Way along Kinder Scout to look at Kinder Downfall and Kinder Low. Walk around Kinder Reservoir. Pop up onto South Head, Visit the trig point at Brown Knoll. Head towards Edale down Jacob's Ladder. Or take them all in on one long walk. And enjoy the magnificent views the whole way around. The sense of success as you look back over your route from the comfort of Harold's Farm is immense!

And the cottage was perfect too. Warm, cosy and very well-equipped. Those Raymond Blanc stainless steel pans were excellent.

Great location for walks and a great view. We loved the huge log burner and the cottage was clean with modern facilities.

Located a mile away from the village of Hayfield at the edge of the Peak District this property is perfect for anyone wanting a quiet getaway with family or friends. The weather wasn't kind while we were there so we didn't explore the Peak District as we'd have liked but staying indoors with the wood burners going was just as good.

Being only a mile from Hayfield means you can walk down to butchers, greengrocers, etc and pick up all the supplies you need or if driving Glossop is only 5 miles away with a large Tesco. There are plenty of other villages within 15 minutes drive so there are plenty of places nearby to eat and drink but the best thing is being able to stay in and make the most of the large kitchen and family dining area.

The road up to the house was dark but well kept for anyone wanting to venture to the pub in the evening.

I'd definitely like to return.

Amazing place - a really well stocked cottage with everything you might need for a peaceful few days away. The house was quaint but spacious. The views were extremely beautiful even when it was raining! Would highly recommend.

“Miss it - Miss out!”
Reviewed 8 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

This is the perfect 'get away' - the farmhouse sits on one side of the valley with sheep and there are cows on the other side - idyllic! Views are just lovely. Plenty of room and equipment for the four of us - eight might have been a squash. the two log burners will keep you nice and warm in winter. Only 5 mins from Hayfield and main roads but feels remote - thank goodness! Any probs ring the owner , he'd rather sort it!
