Went to Abingdon for a special Creation wine and food paring in July 18. The whole experience was amazing and worth every cent. The owners, Ian, Jane & daughter Laurie who runs their School of Wine are superb hosts & are always willing to put themselves out for a guest. Highly recommend a visit to this warm and unique place, & its only an hour out from Durban.

Where to start....The wine...Definitely the wine. Thank God I was not the driver because I wouldn't have enjoyed the wine as I did on that trip. Abingdon Wine Estate is a real gem and a hidden treasure in Kwazulu Natal. The scenery, the food, venue...everything is spectacular. Impressive minimalist design. The food is a great as the wine they serve.

Abingdon is one of those rare places that should be visited if you are going to the Natal Midlands for a meander. It is a certified vineyard "wine of origin KZN" or some such legalese, which for all intents and purposes defies the norms of "Wine from the Cape". Ian and Jane have not only produced great wines from their vineyards, but have combined this with a fantastic country style restaurant. The meals are what can only be termed as country kitchen, hearty meals and local cheese and charcuterie boards. The combination of wine tasting and lunch on a lazy Saturday or Sunday is a must do (remember to book ahead of time as it is often full).

Abingdon meals are the best. Make sure you book in advance. Spend a few minutes extra doing a wine tasting.

Had a great luncheon with friends on a Saturday afternoon.
The service was a tad slow in the beginning. The various charcuterie boards were well thought out.
Would have loved to been able to do a wine tasting outside while enjoying our lunch, but they didn't offer this option.
