On our leisurely drive from Tuscany to Rome we needed to stop off for lunch somewhere. There are plenty of places but based on size and timing, Tarquinia was a great place for us. We looked for places that were well rated and found Chicche e Pepe, and so glad we did. As recommended by the waitress, we had the caccio e pepe because she said the cook really knows how to cook it. Yes, indeed he does. We hadn’t tried the dish too much, but this seemed to be served as it was intended. Creamy, cheesy, and peppery. The owner/chef came out to check on us several times to make sure everything was okay and that the food was good. Despite the language barrier, we could understand his intention to make sure all was well. There is a great selection of vegetarian food here as well. Highly recommended.
