I can't say enough about what a wonderful stay we had. The property is updated, clean, with all amenities. The location is a 3 minute walk to the gondola at Hintertux and plenty of hiking trails. The views from our balcony and anywhere are spectacular. I would wake up each morning and look out my bedroom window and think I was looking at a painting. The staff was over the top attentive to our every need, friendly and made us feel like family. Our package included full board so we eat all our meals at the hotel. The food was over the top. Everyday new gourmet meals with salad bar, hors d'oeuvres, meat and cheese platters, desserts, ice cream, full bar and excellent wine cellar. Beds were comfortable and rooms well equipped. There is a spa with multiple saunas, gym, quiet room and massage room. There is also a game room with xbox, ping pong table and other games. We had 2 family suites for 6 of us. Easy drive from Munich or Innsbruck, both with major airports. We skied on the glacier which is an incredible experience in June. I can't wait to go back in the winter to experience Hintertuxerhof in a different season.

My wife and I stayed at the Hintertuxerhof for a week in June mainly with the intention of some summer boarding on the glacier. When we booked the hotel we expected a simple three star hotel - somewhere we could just use as a base.

We underestimated this hotel massively

From the minute we arrived we were warmly greeted by Katherina who is part of the family that actually own the hotel. Every part of the hotel was explained to us, we were given a tour and even upgraded to a junior suite. The decor of the hotel was warm and traditional but with a very modern feel. It really is a place that you can easily relax and regroup.

The room was fantastic (and huge!) and had everything we needed including a breathtaking view of the mountains.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner was served in the dining room and every meal we had was top quality (and all locally produced) with friendly and personal staff who looked after us from the minute we walked in (Katerina, Julia and Roland were fantastic!)

There is also a modern spa with sauna, steam room etc as well as a massage service twice a week which we had to recover from our hard week of snowboarding!

Chris (Katherina husband) very kindly showed us the rest of the hotel rooms in the annex (which also has a ski room in the basement) and these Comfort Rooms are excellent too.

We didn’t take our kids (they are a bit too old to go on holiday with us) but anyone with children should definitely consider this hotel for their stay. I have never seen so many high quality children’s areas inside and outside, but in a way that the children can be occupied while the adults relax.

I’ve stayed in a lot of expensive hotels around the world but I fell in love with this place - so much so that we’ve booked to go back in the winter.

I would highly, highly recommend this hotel to couples, families, singles ........ young and old!

A friend who has recently been having indoor ski lessons announced that he wanted to ski on snow...now! After some research, we found Hintertux at the base of the glacier with potential all year round skiing. We went 10th May.
Given the amazing reviews, we selected the Kinder & Gletscherhotel, assuming there would be few children there outside of school holidays. This was the case, although the facilities for the children were amazing.
We each had a family suite to ourselves (why not!) and the rooms were beautifully spacious and clean. The views from the balcony were superb.
The food was also a highlight. I have stayed in some pretty expensive hotels in Kitzbuhel and the Ski Welt area and the food here was as good as any - if not better when you factor in Nana's home made cakes in the afternoon! There were also snacks (a full buffet really) every lunchtime with home made soup, pasta, salad etc. The evening meals were excellent with a good choice of meat and fish accompanied by a solid wine list or some very agreeable house wine.
One other highlight is the local brewery, Tux 1280, which produces a selection of 5 craft beers which all have to be tried, multiple times!
The hotel is what it is though because of the Kofler family who own it. The host is third generation Chris who is excellent at keeping bar and entertaining all the guests with his Harmonica. Mum, Dad, fiance and grandparents all help out. They are really nice people. Their attention to detail is first class and nothing is too much trouble. We met a number of regular guest and locals, mostly German and Austrian, and they could not have been friendlier.
In terms of the skiing, you need to be up early at this time of year, when the slopes can be a little icy early on, and be ready to stop around 13.00 when the snow turns to porridge. We managed to ski about 4 hours each day and it was perfect.
There is a small spa beneath the hotel with sauna's, relaxation rooms and a gym which is very nice. Austrian rules apply so don't bother packing your swimsuit!
We have already decided to return in November for a pre season warm up. I am reluctant to rate it so highly in case it becomes too crowded, but it is truly an exceptionally good hotel and highly recommended.

We spent Easter 2018 at "Hintertuxerhof" with Christian (the proprietor) & family. Every time you see Christian he greets you warmly with "Alles goed?" Our stay was awesome - service, care, food, friendliness, helpful assistance with anything! If we are lucky enough, we will return. The price was very good for the area and the facilities were clean, neat and safe. If we had one complaint - it would be the lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room. You can order room service, but we always feel guilty doing it too early/late.
We made friends with a family whose wife/mother had an unfortunate skiing accident and hurt her knee very badly. The hotel spared no effort in assisting them and making the rest of her stay as comfortable as possible. Once again, if you are going to Hintertux with the family - look no further - just stay here.

This is a really well run, welcoming and family orientated hotel. The Kofler family and their staff are attentive and very helpful - no request was too difficult or too much trouble.
The hotel is very close to the bubble up to the glacier ski area - only a few hundred yards. The free ski bus also runs past the hotel. At the end of your day skiing you can ski right back to the hotel.
We stayed for a week and having skied in most European resorts over many years this hotel is top of our list.
My family are already planning our return trip.
Well done the Kofler family.
