We have been to many spa days/ thermae spas/ swimming pools before and they look amazing in the photos then when you get there they look outdated, dirty and tatty. We were slightly expecting to find this with the aqua dome but we were really not disappointed!! It looks just like the photos if not more amazing once your there!

Definitely recommend!

I read the negative reviews first, and decided I'd book the hotel. It was a wonderful choice, I would recommend this hotel highly. The swimming was wonderful, saunas and steam rooms wonderful, the food was excellent, the staff very very nice, the organization very good. Everything was clean, we enjoyed our stay immensely.
The setting in the thermal water is incredible, the quiet areas very relaxing. True pampering! We also loved the complimentary coffee, water and juices in the room.

Room tip: We had a great view to the east side, it was quiet, clean and tranquil.

First time here. We had a few rough moments in the beginning, but the overall stay was very relaxing. As Americans in Austria, and a gay couple, we kind of stood out, but were welcomed without any fuss. The complex is large with about ten pools, including a outdoor Olympic that serves dedicated swimmers for laps. The rest are either mineral or thermal. The pools and sauna here are the draw and day visitors from other towns nearby often show up for day passes. And it's not cheap, so the impression is that Aqua dome has a good reputation among the Austrians and other European visitors to the area.

We had a suite with a fireplace and a dramatic and gorgeous view of the Tyrolean alps from our bedroom. I think all the rooms have views. Our room was perfect and so was the service.

We opted for the breakfast included package, but also ate dinner here every evening, so if you are like us, just get the full meals. The food in these parts are typical German and Austrian in nature. Salad bars with beets, hearty breads, and cheeses, meat and potatoes, gravies, etc, but also some lighter and healthful choices as well. Same with breakfast, eggs, ham, omelettes, pastries, homemade delicious jams, good coffee. Every night the dinner menu features something new; Italian, or local, you get the idea. The chefs are well trained and put out a nice spread. Good food overall.

The one problem we had is that this is our only holiday for the year and thus we splurged a little for the suite. When sitting for our first meal, dinner, we were given a seat by the kitchen which had the wait staff running back and forth, so it was busy and distracting. When we asked for another seating, the host stuck us at a table with no views even though the entire dinning area is surrounded by glass with beautiful vistas, instead he sat us sad little table mere feet away from the salad bar. I thought, "ok, I can handle this for one meal." That's when our host, a small and pugnacious man, told us, in no uncertain terms, that we would be assigned to this depressing table for our entire stay (4 nights). It was a terrible table, with other diners constantly bustling around he salad bar. Just terrible. When I expressed that this wasn't going to be adequate, especially considering the cost of our suite, Markus, the host, gave me stink eye as if I was expecting a little too much. When I asked him what we could do, he waived his hand as if to dismiss us and said I would have to speak with his colleague, whomever that was, as he didn't give us a particular person's name who could help with our disappointment. I let it go, but approached the front desk after dinner, but that guy wasn't much help either, he simply walked us back to Mr. Markus, who again stated that we could talk to someone else in the morning, still no particular name given to us. Ugh.

By the time breakfast rolled around, we approached the front desk again and this time asked for someone more senior who could help us. The head host immediately came to the front desk, knew our names, was completely helpful and professional, and then showed us a much better table, with a view, like most of the other guests enjoyed, and from there on, seating wasn't a problem. The funny thing is that all we really needed was a sympathetic ear at the time of our first interaction and some assurance that our concerns would be taken care of from the start. Instead, we got attitude. It sucked that Markus isn't trained well enough to handle these delicate matters without becoming a jerk and making us feel bad about asking. I hate that more than anything. There's no need for confrontation. Especially when paying top dollar and are supposed to be guests of the hotel and not a burden to some particular waiter. Argh! A smile, a kind word, a small act of assurance that our concerns were valid. That's all anyone ever needs from hotel staff. So basic, I was surprised at the unprofessionalism, to be honest.

Other than that, the spa is awesome, my skin, refreshed, my belly satisfied with good food, and my soul a little more relaxed than when I first got here. This place is top rate and beautiful.

Go to the website for further details on the spa action. It's truly remarkable.

The photo is the view from our bed. Outstanding, right? Omg!

Btw: Our dinner server, Kristina, redeemed any hard feelings we may have had regarding our first encounter with the kitchen staff. I recommend that if Mr. Markus gives you a bad table or a bad time that you bypass him completely, go to the front desk and speak to someone who understands that when traveling, the last thing anyone needs when paying good money is an attitude or someone unhelpful from the hotel.

The good:
- nice modern room
- friendly receptionists
- solid food
- nice spa area, free tea, very friendly men served little complementary refreshments. much appreciated
- great massages

The bad:
- the thermal pools are public. This means that a lot of children and other people are swimming, not only hotel guests. Just too many people, really annoying
- the hotel's spa area and the swimming area are connected via a tunnel. This tunnel also connects the thermal area with the hotel. Hence, you are walking a lot!
