Where do you start....we booked a table for two to eat on sunday.we arrived at 12.30 for a drink before our meal.it was like stepping into a warzone...anarchy in Lincolnshire come here to see it here at its finest.we approached the bar to state that we were here and was greeted with a reply of"and ?"...bit bewildering to say the least...maybe the menber of staff was having a bad day...but when you look through some of the reviews..you realise they must be having a bad year.so we let it slide.anyway...we got a drink from the disgruntled employee and sat down in the corner. So we watched food come out the kitchen....and we watched food go back in the kitchen. We then had the arduous task of watching disgruntled staff member going berserk at a family of four because they werent happy with the food they had been served.which to be fair looked awful.we finished our drinks and left. The poor reviews on here seem to be a fairer reflection on this business than the five star reviews. The general attitude of the disgruntled member needs addressing. There are far better established restaurants in the village itself, which are far better customer friendly.AVOID.!!!!!!!!!

Fabulous. Great food and friendly staff along with very friendly customers. Plenty of local walks with historic value and returning to the Railway Inn watering hole made the return a welcome with good real ale and again the friendly atmosphere before a welcoming warm bed. Breakfast cooked to perfection with nothing too much trouble.

Went here for a meal on Sunday. The place was absolutely heaving but the atmosphere was lovely. We ordered 2 roast dinners which took a while to arrive (understandable seeing how busy it was) but definitely worth the wait. Reasonably priced and lovely friendly helpful staff. Will definitely return.

We were a total inconvenience to the staff for being there. The attitude was appalling. They were very busy and it felt like that was our fault! We booked in at 4.30 (the latest we could get...but didn’t eat until at least 6.15! Which didn’t therefore make sense!)
We were ‘shown’ to our table which was in a packed bar, not the restaurant (we weren’t told this) when I say shown, people were sat at the table, the lady behind the bar yelled at them to move ... the she pointed at it and said ‘that’s yours’. We sat at our sticky table and waited. We gave up and went and asked for our menus after about 15 mins. Someone bought cutlery. There were 8 of us. We got a handful of knives and forks (11 knives and 5 forks) left in a pile on our lovely sticky table.
We finally ordered. Fine. We had to change as a couple of things had run out. Fine it happens. One kids meal came ok. Another came. We only ordered 1. This foxed the waitress who couldn’t figure out why we weren’t taking the second meal we didn’t order. The bar lady came over. We went through it all about 3 or 4 times what we ordered. It seemed it was all our fault they got it wrong. The rest finally arrived. It was thrown onto a plate. We had Sunday lunches. Ha! It was dry, and the portion size a joke?! They had clearly run out and eked ours out between us. No gravy. At all. 3 single veg dishes between 8 of us. We asked for gravy. We asked for veg. We waited. And waited. We started eating thinking it would arrive soon... we waited. Gravy and veg never arrived. It’s not easy to eat a Sunday lunch dry, especially when it’s extra dry anyway!
We asked for the bill , Lo and behold we had been charged for the extra child’s meal we didn’t order.
It really was one of the worst places I’ve ever been to.
If you can’t cope being busy don’t book people in.
Customers are they reason you are open. Don’t make them feel like dirt.
We will never return, and I hope this review will prevent others having the same awful experience we did.
If you have a choice of eating here or eating nothing... choose nothing.

We had lamb and a beef sunday lunch which was very nice with good sized portions and homemade Yorkshire puddings.Very friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Dogs welcome and nice areas to sit outside. We will be back.
