A hidden gem in Gressoney saint Jean. In this village the valley is still wide enough to allow for sunshine between 10 AM and 3 PM in February. We stayed in a family room that sleeps 4; one separate roomy master bedroom, a 7 by 4 m living room / kitchen with a quality foldable bed that can be made up separately so one has a sofa too when utilizing the room by 3 persons which we did.
The mattresses and pillows are Italian style hard but not uncomfortable.
The rooms are quiet, besides some stumbling above during breakfast and supper times when everyone is about.
The village is quiet at night, we slept with the windows open to maximize fresh mountain air.
The church chimes her bells every hour and at 7 AM for mass but after the second day we smiled and turned over.
The village has several good quality restaurants in a wide enough price range. A well equipped convenient store is around the corner, there is a butcher and 2 bakeries.
One can also do x-country ski next to the village starting at a pond that also allows for an evening walk.
The ski bus stops 100 meters away and there is a well adhered to timetable (make a photo).
Can recommend the former super-G piste Weissmatter for a morning or afternoon run at relatively low cloud-base. It's just 5 min by bus.
But the best of all is the lovely couple and family that runs the residence; charming, ever so helpful and friendly. They make you feel welcome and make you feel at home.
And I nearly forgot, there is private parking on their grounds too.
