Sant'Ermo is a picturesque quiet old Tuscan village set in beautiful countryside. It is within easy access of tourist centres like Florence and Pisa, both of which we visited. We loved nearby Volterra which is situated high up and has wonderful panoramic views. Also we enjoyed visiting the town of San Gimignano with its artistic shops.
I would recommend our comfortable accommodation at Il Ciglieri. We were provided with a bottle of wine and generous breakfast at our arrival which was appreciated. Marco's housekeeper Elena and her husband Francesco were friendly and very helpful.
In all, l would say this is an excellent place to stay.
Our stay in the small peaceful village of Sant’Ermo was a real pleasure. We enjoyed a lot of different activities, from walking in the countryside around, relaxing in the shady green area not far from the apartment, driving for a visit to the several art towns and cities, to spending a full day on the coast. Next time we will try walking along a section of the via Francigena, the ancient route connecting Canterbury to Rome, as we have discovered the village is close to San Miniato – Gambassi leg. To sum up, the strengths of the accommodation are its quietness, its being close to Pisa International Airport, cities and towns easily reached by car and worth visiting, opportunity to go trekking and cycling.
The flat is cosy and comfortable, beautifully furnished. There's everything you may need. The parking place is near the church in the small square.
The owner is kind and ready to help
The village is wonderful and quiet, the best place to have a rest and unwind in any season, surrounded by an amazing landscape. It's a great starting point for nice walks in the hills. It is not far from Cecina and the seaside and interesting sites like Volterra and S. Giminiano are easy to reach by car. We will visit again soon.
We had an unforgettable experience!
