We had been talking about continuing on to Freiburg but stopped at this gasthof on a lark. We didn't speak any German and there was a little confusion initially over credit card payment. Resolved quickly, and we took a large (handicapped accessible) room in a newer building of theirs. Simple, but nice and clean. Excellent dinner and quite a good breakfast. There was playground equipment outside for kids too.

Dear guest

thank you for your nice note. That's true, the owner and his wife are not good in english. But me, the chef and one other waitress are :) so we always try to be around, unfortunatley its not 24 hours possible. We are glad that you solved the problem quick and enjoyed your stay.
Hope to see you again one day and all the best
Your team from Adler-Pelzmühle

This guesthouse was booked from information gained from its website. What a disappointment. We aren't sure when the photographs were taken but what we encountered bore absolutely no resemblance to what was shown there. The accommodation was not up to the standard that we were expecting, very tired, basic rooms, small, outdated and not very clean shower rooms (the shower cubicle was impossible for the disabled to access as it had a very high sill and narrow door), a pool which was unusable and a general feeling of neglect and of somewhere needing a massive overhaul both outside and inside. Apart from the rather cosy dining room and the spectacular view from the car park I would not recommend this Gasthof.
The Gasthof may be located in a quiet location on the edge of the forest but is so far from civilisation that if the hotel facilities are unavailable (some of which were not, as on the day we visited, there was a pre-arranged function, the birthday of a local elder. There was no a la carte menu all we were offered was schnitzels, frits and salad) it is a very long drive to find an alternative. The limited menu was not too much of a problem, we were fed reasonably quickly, but we had to move tables so that a projector screen could be set up and we were shushed whilst a video of the elders life and history of the world was shown. We were surprised that we were expected to leave at eleven. Not the kind of hospitality that we would have expected particularly as we were looking forward to introducing our friends to German hospitality. Unfortunately we did not get that opportunity and came away with the distinct impression that we were in the way.

Voraussichtliche Fertigstellung b.z.w.

This is a beautiful hotel in a remote, lovely area. We were visiting a friend who lived nearby so this was our reason for finding this hotel. The rooms are immaculate, breakfast was very good. Communicating was a little difficult as the couple does not speak English, but we managed. They do not accept credit cards and there is no wifi. I suppose it is not available in this area.

We only stayed for one night, but if we were to return we would definitely stay again. I love modern amenities, and I did not find the rooms dated. Perhaps the towels could have been better. The shower worked well for us. The overall stay was very nice.

Room tip: The owners do not speak English. Also, there is no wifi. A new multiple story unit is being added on this property. The magnitude of this addition is rather surprising as this area seemed very remote to us. We were visiting a friend who lives on a farm in the Black Forest. Perhaps this area is a get-a-way place for people from cities. The area is remote and lovely.

Dear Jasmine

Thanks for your nicely written comment and your visit! We hope you had a good journey back home!

It's right that the English of my parents is not that good at this time. We still take lessons :)

We accept credit cards but only with a small fee which the guests have to pay if the want to pay by credit card.

Due to the large demand for rooms and apartments in our idyllic location, surrounded by greenery, we are also expanding on, with the new "Sonnenflügel" by 13 wonderful, big rooms (De Luxe 43 sqm), all with balconies and stunning views of the Black Forest mountains.

Estimated completion is May / June 2014.
Furthermore, a spa oasis is planned for our guests yet. And we need to get WLAN then as well!

We hope that you get the chance to come back one day to spent another holiday with us in our new, mordern guest house.

We are looking forward to welcoming you again.

All the best

Team of Adler-Pelzmühle
