We stayed at this lovely cottage for two night at the end of November lovely cosy and homely well equipped home. We had dinner at the pub at the bottom of the hill good pub grub. Then bused into Bath for Christmas Markets and sight seeing. A lovely break highly recommend a stay here.

My daughter, a student, was feeling homesick and badly needed a visit from me to gather hugs, sympathy and home cooking. All were duly delivered in a cosy, homely environment so job done all round. My only gripe is that the step up from the kitchen is very high, one of my party hurt themselves a little by mis-judging it, there really should be a hazard marking.

Liked best: Cosy, homely feel to the place.
Liked least: Deceptively large step up from the kitchen, could do with some hazard marking.

I am so pleased we were able to offer a "home from home" to you all for the weekend to help your daughter settle in to her new life in Bath. I do hope she enjoys her time there.
Our cottage is of course very old and comes with a few layout quirks that have been there for many, many years but we will certainly have another look at the step on our next visit and see if anything can be done.

“Cosy little cottage”
Reviewed 24 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Hubby, teen daughter & i stayed this weekend, in order to visit Bath but have the benefit of more space & flexibility than a hotel room would provide.
The cottage is situated in a lovely village on the main road through. Regular bus service into Bath, with the bus stop being only 5 mins away.
The cottage is nicely set back from the road due to a long front garden.
The cottage is well equipped, comfortable beds, great water pressure & temperature on the shower & was a lovely, cosy oasis to come back to after a busy day of sightseeing.
We did bring a DVD to watch one evening but despite knowing the make of this Combi TV/ DVD, we couldn't get the player to work & it just kept displaying that the DVD was loading.
Based on other properties we have stayed in over the years, it would be an idea to provide some DVD's , if the player is working & some games ( we did see one game but it's nice to have a choice)
Also, a butter knife, or a knife with a rounded blade, would be useful for spreading butter, etc. the pointed cutlery knives were not ideal for spreading your butter & marmalade on toast!
Other than these minor details, I would recommend this cottage & would stay again. But due to the steep stairs & the open style of the stairs, plus the step up to the bedroom & bathroom from the landing, I would not recommend this cottage for the elderly, infirm or small children. Ideal for couples, friends, teenagers.
Thank you for the milk & delicious biscuits!

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am so glad you enjoyed your time in the cottage and were able to do the lovely walk into Bath along the canal.
I understand your point about the reading lamp as the lighting is quite soft in the living room when only the two lamps are on. We felt that the directional spots overhead did the job well when required but we will certainly look at this again. We have never encountered a problem with the shower tray at the cottage but thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We hope you come back again to Bathford - we will be offering some lazy weekends in January and some of February with late Sunday departures on offer - perfect for the sales and sunday lunch.
