My wife and I stayed here in one of the two cabins for a wonderfully relaxing week. We understood it was self catering and already knew it was some miles from the nearest shop, but if you want a beautiful location and like isolation amongst nature this is wonderful. Yes the track leading to it from the road is 6km long, but this also keeps it quiet. Alippio and Maria are super hosts where nothing is too much trouble. The cabin was spotlessly clean, and the views to die for. You can sit outside in the evening looking across the gorgeous lake and not see one light or hear anything except nature, all under a star spangled Alentajan sky. Good for astronomy.
The bed is on the hard side which we did find a little uncomfortable, and the track down to the lakeside where sunbeds on the pontoon can be found is also quite steep. But this is such a gem of a place and with such lovely hosts we whole heartedly recommend staying. We would love to come back.
We love the Santa Clara artificial lake already for a long time. We try to visit it yearly and also try to have another site on the lake every year. This year we chose PoioRuivo. We were surprised. Very friendly and helpful owners. A good breakfast for a very reasonable price. The lake is fantastic, very peaceful and quiet. Good temperature for swimming and very clean. Lots of watersport possibilities on the site. A very good place for hiking and biking. Not easy, very exhausting. Free mountainbikes, water bikes and canoes and kayaks. Very silent in the night. In the daytime it can be noisy on the water because of speedboats and guests coming and going via the pontoons. Another negative point is around 10h a.m. Then the ski-school guests are arriving with cars and passing by the cabins in high speed. Dust, dust, dust. They promised to change this next year. The walk down to the pontoons can be difficult.
