We just returned from Easter Island, having spent seven wonderful nights in a two bedroom bungalow at the Propiedades Vinapu. This property is very convenient and well equipped for families and travelers interested in longer visits. It is walking distance to the village center and a mini-market is located directly across the street. The kitchen has new appliances and the dining area can easily accommodate six. The beds were quite comfortable
The proprietor, Hugo Edmunds, provided us with wonderful information and suggestions for touring the island. We rented his Suzuki SUV for one day, 2014 in great condition. Just be sure the gas tank is full when you leave the property as it is expected to be returned full. Anytime you need a taxi home, just tell the driver to take you to Hugo Edmunds - the current cost is CHP 2,000 (about $3 - 4). They will know the way. He also owns the adjacent Hotel Victoria which is where internet service is available.
Remember that Easter Island is very remote and an excellent rating there may not equate to an excellent rating in NYC. The morning alarm begins to crow "cock-a-doodle do" about 6 am (or earlier) and is quite insistent that you arise by 7:30, even though it may still be dark outside. The washing machine in the bungalow is new, and the hot sun will dry the clothes on your drying rack in a few hours.
