I enjoyed my 3 nights on rapa nui at chez hiva - the landlady is from Belgium which might be a help to European travellers. Easter island is defo worth the trip and the polynesian culture is different - and there are the giant moai all around the island!! I would recommend the raki raki dancing show and a scuba dive in crystal clear waters along with the usual couple of days touring the island - get it done!!

We had the largest room with washing machine and kitchen that was very clean. The place is quite nice but could use a bit more kitchen equipment. The owner was on vacation and we had do our communications with a very friendly local lady. Sadly she had limited English knowledge and we picked this place because of the English skills of the owner in the first place.
There are two small but loud/aggressive dogs on the property but they where behind "bars" during all our stay. Usually we think that dogs are not the best options for people renting rooms (still there are hundreds of free roaming dogs anyway on the island).
There is a dryer in the room with the washing machine but they don't allow it to be used...probably they want to save up on electricity for money or environment. Can be a bit annoying because drying cloths is difficult under the wet conditions on Easter Island and can take two days. Also the room lacks ventilation and has huge issues with humidity and moisture in general, even when all the windows are open all day, water drips from the ceiling in the bathroom.
No option for airport transfer was offered on request (quite common for other homestays in Hanga Roa) and we had to pay 9USD extra for 5min of taxi riding each way.
There is a very good bakery very close and also a very expensive mini market.
They will help you to get a very affordable and good rental car on the island so ask for help.
The WIFI is slow and unreliable but thats alright on such a remote island.

Three units in an independent house with different level of services. I rent a private room with a small bathroom located just outside my unit. Possibility to sit outside in the courtyard and to fix for oneself a simple meal. No possibility to cook but there is a fridge Ibn the room and you can prepare salades or sandwiches. Calm and secured.
