Description: Secrets Cafe is a truly special place, nestled in the rainforest on the shores of Lake Baroon with panoramic views of the water, mountains and rainforest. This intimate connection with nature is enhanced by the incredible food prepared in house by our top chef Mathew Law and served by cafe manager Di Dennis and her passionate team of helpers. The cafe has been crafted with exquisite carvings and attention to detail. You may even find a unique gift for that special someone in our Art Gallery. Secrets Cafe and Deck has a fully licensed bar, stocked with a fine selection of spirits, wines, beers and cocktails. We are open six days a week, from Tuesday to Sunday 8:30am to 4:00pm.

Our girl's family weekend was made very special with lunch at Secrets. It is situated on the edge of beautiful Lake Baroon in lush rainforest. It was my third visit over the years and I was not disappointed to celebrate a special lunch. We opted to eat indoors in the Art Gallery section as it was a bit cool outside. The ambience there was also congenial. The carved woodwork in the entrance is particularly stunning. The staff were great: friendly and helpful. Our food was delicious, not sure about the sprouts on our panna cotta though. We ordered extra greens to supplement our mains. Maybe another special lunch in a few years time.

Thank you Carole I will enquire about the sprouts and respond again Cheers Aldy. Your review is disappointing as you mention that our food was delicious. We have been receiving high praise both for our food and the pricing compared to our local area.

We booked a Champagne High Tea for 9 to celebrate my sisters birthday and while the setting and the view are stunning I was very disappointed with the food. It just seemed very ordinary and amongst it were two mini cupcakes that looked like they came from Woolworths. It was $60 each plus a 15% for a Sunday booking and we also had two vegetarians so that was an extra $10 each. I had to book and pay in advance and it wasn't until we arrived that we were told it was a 2 hour booking and one of the couples had been delayed coming up from Brisbane so we didn't want to start without them so we waited in the foyer. Once we sat down nobody came near us until after 10 minutes I sent one of the party to see a waitress to say we're ready. My niece had been before and recommended it but to be honest I would say to people it wasn't worth it.

Seems like a comedy of errors. You must have purchased the Champagne High tea. We do have the classic for $50 for people who are on a budget or prefer tea or coffee. You obviously came on a Sunday. Please understand that wages are 175% on a Sunday and prep time for high teas is extensive. In general diners love our high teas as there is quite a number of hot savoury items along with delicious finger sandwiches and freshly made scones. Unfortunately, if we are going to make a living we need to do at least 2 lunch shifts and so we need to restrict to a 2 hour booking. However, we do have the Hideaway where you can book for longer for a fee. My take on this was you were stressed by the delay and that coloured how you felt about everything else. Kind regards Aldy Johnston.

We were a large group celebrating a special birthday and the restaurant did all they could do to accommodate us. Our setting was beautiful and the food was delicious. Communication was excellent the whole way through as when the booking was made, we did not realise it was a Christmas in July menu. However in the long run that made no difference as all three courses were just fabulous. We really enjoyed the complimentary glass of mulled wine to start!
The restaurant is a great place to celebrate .

We has been refused to see surroundings after booking the lunch. Is this normal practice of your business. Not very friendly welcome.

Unfortunately when we did allow this 10 years ago and the antics of the public walking in the private area of our world class accommodation disturbed our staying paying guests. We also hold events such as lakeside interludes, boho picnics, elopements, boutique weddings and larger ones as well, so we reserve the right to hang our private property signs and guests only directions. Where the public ignore these signs we ask them not to walk beyond what is the public area. For small groups we do offer guided tours to view our accommodation where possible. This can be disappointing to some but it is always approached in a professional manner with valid reasons given. The belief that you were entitled is what disturbs me most as well as the obvious payback of a single star rating reveals far more about you than you are likely to understand. Kind regards Aldy Johnston.
