We got a good deal on a room in the main building over the Christmas week and enjoyed our stay. The main building with a large pool is definitely the best place to be though lounge seating is limited. The pool area itself is beautiful and the rooms are well-appointed for a budget hotel and comfortable. The staff is also super nice and the massages you can get by the pool are great and affordable ($11USD/hr - try Cynthia!). The location is great - only a 10-minute walk from the beach along the street with all the restaurants, shops, etc.
Now on to the few negatives:
The main thing that bothered us is the A/C. It is definitely old and needs to be replaced. We woke up every morning feeling like we had a cold because of how stuffy and humid it makes the air in the room. Can't be healthy. The food at the restaurant is also somewhat below average, so I'd recommend eating elsewhere (try Gavroche in the mornings for coffee and baked goods). Also, keep in mind that the water in the bathroom is saltwater, which means it's difficult to get your hair clean.More
