Booked Villetta Capo d'Orlando for a 7 night value late season break. Good communications pre-arrival from the owner. An arrangement to meet off the expressway, was appreciated as we arrived at night and the villetta is somewhat challenging to locate off of Scafa's steep winding roads in the dark.
Marina (with translation help from Marco) showed us around the 'homely' villetta and most kindly left us bottled water, fresh limes, and her own home-pressed olive oil and delicious melanzane antipasta... a really lovely touch.
Daylight gave way to a really great view from the balconies. Both bedrooms have sea views, the double has a very sizeable balcony and the best view with large French windows.
For us the villetta was great, we needed two bedrooms and a good sized kitchen/living area and these needs were met here. Two bathrooms with toilets were a bonus. Hot water on call although we found the water pressure for the shower a bit hit and miss.
The otherwise well stocked kitchen only lacked a bread knife/chopping board but we managed with pizza knives and plates.
All linen (including towels) were supplied and a washing machine handled a load for us. We didn't need to call on Marina during our stay - everything had been taken care of.
Car absolutely required, as the villetta is perched high in Scafa, and the nearest decent sized supermarket is in Capo d'Orlando (DeSpar), or Brolo (La Filanda), each 4-5 miles away.
Venture beyond Capo d'Orlando and Brolo has a nice beach... swimming still comfortable in clear water in late October. Further afield, the fast toll expressway nearby gets you to Palermo in well under 2hrs though there's a more scenic toll-free route on the coast hugging road. We also took the train (£7 rtn) to Cefalù, a very worthwhile destination from Capo d'Orlando, although take the timetable as a guide only!
Marina seems a lovely and welcoming owner, the villetta is ideal for friends or families and the location great, even out of season, for a quiet retreat.
