Excuse me while I gush about abseiling down Table Mountain. We were told that this was one thing not to miss while in Cape Town, and oh, is that true. If your pounding heart can take it, you absolutely have to throw yourself off that cliff and experience for yourself the thrill of hanging 1000 m in the air. Better yet, abseil once to get over your fear, then do it again to really soak in the incredible view.
The instructors are excellent.
We found the walk to the top of the mountain to be more exhausting than the abseil down (possibly because our knees felt like jelly from the adrenaline!). The walk is awesome. Do give yourself plenty of time to explore the top of the mountain as well. The cafe on the mountain is cheap, especially considering the logistics for them. Take your camera and water clipped onto your belt or pocket, and wear sunscreen.
