This hotel is in a stunning location, over looking a lake in the middle of nowhere. The hotel is situated 5 minutes from Filipstad and approximately three and half hours from Arlanda airport by car.
The hotel is quaint and quiet. Our room (no 27) was lovely with medium sized bedroom, very large balcony and small bathroom. Unfortunately the bed was two single beds pushed together and both were very soft. The bathroom was basic but had a good power shower. No toiletries or tea/coffee making facilities were provided though. Also, annoyingly the walls were very thin and we could hear other guests in their rooms and at night we could hear the staff cleaning up downstairs.
Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful. Dinner in the dinning room was yummy and very well cooked. Unfortunately breakfast was not very good and lacked substance and flavour. However, the coffee was good and was served all day outside with a selection of biscuits/cakes. There is also a bar, but it is not manned unless you ask.
Unfortunately the gym was dire with only two pieces of cardio-vascular equipment, but if you are into weights there was plenty of these. The tennis court was very run down, with grass now growing through the clay, but was fine for a gentle game. You are allowed to swim in the lakes, but beware of the snakes.
We stayed here as it was the venue to a friend’s wedding reception and we had such a lovely time. The food was amazing, staff were on hand for everything and were very discreet. But, I do not think we would choose to stay here again as the standards are little below par for the price. That said, it is one of the most peaceful and picturesque places we’ve ever been too and worth a visit for that alone.
