We only went to this place to have lunch since we were at the beach and we waited for a very very long time and their music is too loud. We ordered spare ribs, schnitzel and chips only the potato chips were worth eating.

Nenga Lodge was a huge disappointment and at R600 per night is overpriced. The lodge is on a busy corner and encourages partygoers. It is noisy, dirty, smelly, old decrepid furniture and bears no resemblance to what is advertised. We had to leave and were refused a refund as we had booked through Sleeping Out.

We are sorry you did not enjoy your experience at our resort over the December holidays. We have since done major renovations on our furniture in all the units at the lodge. With regard to the partygoers, it is part of the Xhosa culture to come from far to unite together on public holidays to enjoy themselves, but it is a joyous occasion for them and there is no crime. We hope that you will learn and understand the Xhosa culture a bit more, perhaps have a look at the following site for more information on the subject of the Xhosa culture www.coffeebay.co.za.

We booked for 2 weeks this December but only stayed for a week. They insist you pay 100% of the payment before you arrive. We couldn't use our toilet because the neighbours sewerage shoots up in your toilet when they flush, there is no extraction or window in the bathroom so the fumes from the septic tank is ever present. The light switches shock you, the gas stove doesn't work and is extremely dirty, the low budget kitchen is busy rotting behind the cupboards and the smell thereof is horrible.

There is an open kiosk 2 meters from your front door with exposed wires but the worst part of it all is the management and owners attitude. A guest of the bar was peppers sprayed one night while we were there, the ever present smell of dagga in the air at night and the questionable movement of the "ladies of the night" in and out of the establishment makes you question whether it is indeed family friendly.

We asked for a pro-rata refund for the week we couldn't stay but they laughed at us.

Stay far far away from this place...

We are sorry you did not enjoy your experience at our lodge of the December holidays. We have since done major renovations to our units with regard to plumbing and we have brand new cupboards in all our units. Management and Security have since changed and all customers using the Bar / Restaurant or visitors at the lodge who have not booked in must leave the property at a certain time after signing the visitors register. The units are serviced daily and checked once they have been cleaned.

Upon arrival the host was very kind to make us a lovely meal by the executive chef as everything was closed in town.
However the next morning was a different situation, upon entering to the en suite bathroom I ended up with the handle in my hand, the toilet seat was craked around and pinching when seated and to top it off there was no hot water left and had to take a cold shower. Plus the bed quality was terrible hollow in the middle and ended up with back pain in the morning sum to that there was a package of complementary goverment issued condoms next to the bed, which gives me the idea its more a motel than a family retreat.

This situation was addressed to the ownwer and it was rudely dismissed, so we decided to pack our bags and leave requesting a refund for the days we payed in advance. It was denied and only 30% of the total amount was given back.

PLEASE DON'T SPOIL YOUR HOLIDAY BY VISITING THIS DUMP.

enjoyed a back to basics weekend away with friends at coffee bay and nenga river lodge gave us the perfect place to base our explorations from.
the resort is close to umtata river mouth, mapunzi cliffs and hole-in-the-wall. the beach there is lovely and wild.
kudos to chantel and neville, the managing couple, for a friendliness and helpfulness.
looking forward to trying out the more upmarket lodges to be erected at umtata river mouth in the near future... good luck with the enterprise! CAP
